Pleasehelp! Westhighland by Sherwin Williams. What trim goes with it?
Comments (11)I agree with cat_ky. Also, I kept something from Lori Sawaya that might help. She said... "I have a rule of thumb. It goes like this. As long as two colors of white have a difference of at least 0.20 in Chroma, neither will make the other look dirty or dingy. AND as long as you think the two colors go together, look pretty next to each other then you have yourself a white color scheme that works." If it's any help, I see Westhighland White has a chroma of .79. Extra White appears to be .32. Not sure about High Reflective White, but am guessing there's much more of a difference....See MoreSherwin Williams Pure White or Extra White Help
Comments (6)The first house that I bought had pure white trim, ceilings, and cabinets. At the time, I had no idea there were so many shades of white. I figured you went to the store and bought white paint. I would've never guessed that it was anything other than what I would consider plain white. Now I've done my own looking through paint colors and I've seen how many different shades of white there are. Because I've had pure white in every conceivable room placement (N/S/W/E) and it all looked white to me, we used it in our new build, with rooms facing all directions. Still looks white. Never has it ever looked yellow to me. I imagine that the yellowness that you are seeing might be due to what's next to it/reflecting on it, not the paint itself. TL;DR I would go with pure white....See MoreWhat color sofa for SW Pure White or SW Extra White walls
Comments (6)Almost anything goes with white walls. I think the problem is you don't really know which style you want. You named three in your question. It's not so important to be able to name it, but having some inspiration pictures so that you can convey the look you're after would help. If you haven't already, take some time to compile one or more Ideabooks on Houzz (I do one for each room). Just start saving pictures of rooms you like and indicate what you like about each room in the comment field. After a while some commonalities should start becoming apparent. If not, if you're still all over the place, understand that sometimes one house or one room can't hold all of your good ideas. You will have a more pleasing, coherent end result if you refine your taste. Save some ideas for the next house, or the next time you redecorate. :-) What makes professional decorators'/designers' rooms stand out from non-professionals is the discipline required to achieve an intentional look....See MorePaint Recommendations to Downplay Beige
Comments (7)Since everything will be white on white, and you are trying to work with the existing beige floors, would you consider keeping the island a natural wood color? Maybe it can be sanded to a lighter color. Would look beautiful with white countertops and still relate to the existing flooring. Just a thought…best of luck!😊...See Morebluechandelier
