I also vote no to the plastic liner. hard to clean and wasteful to just replace them all the time. Nylon curtains can be thrown in the wash and bleached (it's easier to wash them routinely though, before the bottom hem gets moldy). I use this kind of hook which makes that chore super easy. I used to have two curtains doubled up on regular hooks and that worked just fine, btw. double sided hooks or double rods are not really necessary unless you just like the way it looks.

I agree with Flo. NYC apartments are usually space challenged, and yours seems true to form. I’m trying to figure out the relationship between couch and desk and hall. Your art over the sofa should cover 2/3 - 3/4 the sofa width and hang 5 - 8 inches above. I’d do a square or portrait format canvas or print over the desk. Not a pro. Just "food for thought": If the room is small and your impression of it is dark, consider painting it all white or off white or another pale color. Lighter color for bedding with a pair of matching pillow shams would also lighten the room while making it feel more complete. On a full sized bed, you could choose a queen bed spread, preferably reversible, and it would likely cover the bed frame, too -- but you might need to stitch or pin up the bottom corners or tuck them under the mattress. Two extra shams that coordinate but not match -- two solids and either two different solid colors or two print could help complete the decorating look. If you like the mountain picture, see if you can choose a solid color from with that picture for your bedding and a second color for within the second pillow shams.
