Can I reuse lovely cast iron drop-in sink with soapstone counter?
Comments (8)This reply is very late, but it is possible to install a self-rimming Kohler Epicurean sink below like an undermount sink. Tile is no longer popular, so my 1987 install of this sink would most likely require some other countertop surface now. I wanted the convenience of a countertop that drained into the sink for easy cleaning. Just be sure to replace the silicone mold-resistant caulking around the joint that is missing in this photo....See MoreCan we talk about wooden counter tops again...please.
Comments (11)I recommend PolyWhey for a clear waterbased finish, it's a fabulous finish -- uses milk whey instead of urethane. Has virtually no odor and dries in about an hour. Amazing stuff. Did my staircase with it last year (it dried before the cats even woke from their nap) and it wears like iron. I've switched over to using it entirely for any poly project. There's also BioShield Wood Counter Finish, OSMO, SoyGuard and other oil types that work well and can be recoated easily. You can stain under/with any of these using non-aniline (food-safe) stains. Here is a link that might be useful: polywhey and other bio-shield type safe finishes...See MoreHelp with kitchen counter-tops is really needed...
Comments (42)for the handles, may I suggest something to pick up on the hues in the flooring? A little more copper toned. you have light cabs, light floors. I think throwing in a dark ORB w/o actual copper highlights would be too much of a contrast. IMO. cypress park Sandra, I like the porcelain one better than the other one. Does the backsplash have to be done immediately? If the tones in the porcelain tile you picked clash w/the ivory tones in the counter, it could be a problem. However, I did find some copper toned ones that should be avail. these are porcelain/SS, and treated so as not to stain or tarnish. I LOVE these for your kitchen. timeless and gorgeous. They are probably not super cheap, but it would be worth it for me. http://www.miusartmosaics.com/arabesque-lantern-beacon-copper-tile-in these would also work. the site is here: maybe they have them in stock.http://www.westsidetile.com/arabesque-tiles/ i like this one too. notice the copper faucet. beautiful w/the glass mosaic. if you got the cream countertop, this would look amazing w/your floors. this last one is a copper colored slate/quartzite....See Morecan I paint my cabinets white with this counter tops ?
Comments (27)Thank you again. I am thinking more darker or intense color which would be more cooler. I would definitely get couple of samples to see how they will look with my counter. I think I m actually going to go with the cream/white dove cabinets and charcoal grey island with white/Creme backsplash. In the end if we decide that we have a budget to do something with the floors, which tone of wood flooring or wood like tiles will go with this color choice ??? I personally like dark grey oak floors but right next to kitchen is living and foyer with light bamboo floors!!!!...See MoreShadyWillowFarm
