that room's large enough that you can have some separate seating areas. You wouldn't want just a huge sectional sofa thing aimed at the TV wall, right? At the side of the room not devoted to the TV, put some armchairs, a table, a sofa, bookshelves, whatever. Do something to CREATE a smaller area for the TV. I'd think in a 25 x 25 room, if you ONLY had seating devoted to the TV, you'd need a tv so gargantuan it would be gross. OTOH, if you've also got a dedicated living room area, separate from this very large room, maybe you really want to do a home theater thing? If so, I'd be looking at a nice large screen.... do you get to design the whole thing? So you can put a plasma or LCD up? 50 or 65 inches would be cool. If you are building the whole thing from scratch, put the speakers in the walls or ceilings - we just re-did a 12 yr old entertainment center to 'fit' around a large flat panel, and we still ended up with a 'deep' piece, to fit the speakers! Hi Radley, The doors appear to be a mix of original stain and a newer gel coat. I had to paint the half bath and utility doors in the nearby area as they were so badly done. I kept three doors in the badly done wood at the end of the hall along with double doors (just like entry) going into the master bedroom. I will tackle the striping and re-staining down the road. I was told the kitchen cabinets were cherry but I swear they look like Lyptus. The crown molding appeared to be a sort of walnut stain (now painted wall color but in a gloss).. Close-up of door stain on master doors. These are different to the attempt at gel coating on the other bedroom doors to hide a “mom stay out” carving and multiple dog scratches. I don’t have a close-up of front door but these master doors are close. Thank you Kswl, the house has been a lot of work believe it or not to get it to this point. Lots of oddities here! Husband and I have worked our way to the end and have closed this guest bath slider in and added a door with a doggy door. It’s not magazine worthy but will make my life easier. This week we also gutted the master and master bath and will be adding a closet. The fireplace was tweaked as well as it was originally an attention hog the minute you walked in. However, so was the kitchen so we tweaked that a bit and it doesn’t scream as loud. There were no electric outlets beyond the wall cabinets between windows. About that brass thing at fireplace…yes I think I agree and that’s why I haven’t hung it. After I finish the drywall in 2nd bath husband will hang to dining light and we will take it from there. Also, in my mind I would love to find an old but nice black metal cabinet of some sort with brass on it to use as a media cabinet. There does not seem to be any such thing in my searches. In fact I can’t find any of the ideas that are in my head. It just seems like that area needs some brass (a bit) to say it’s part of a certain time. An area I'm doing dual time in. And, some "before" pic's.. Geokid I like that idea and actually looked on Conestoga last night. They didn't have my configuration. It's looking like I need to find a vintage something with brass and tweak it. I'm thinking that although I like the light wood it seems I might need more of an anchor...and brass! natal - that's a beautiful built-in and just what I had in mind but didn't want to spend the $$ since I'm hoping we move out of state in 5 or so years. I would have also done the built-in in white to brighten up my living area because we have a lot of tan and brown, although I think the monotone look is growing on me. We're getting a light carpet inlay so that will offer some contrast. I'm definitely saving a picture of cooking's built-in for our someday "forever house" though. luckajoy - bellaflora told me about the outlet and mentioned they had some salvaged wood pieces - thanks, bella! I just happened to call on Friday to see if they had one of the coffee tables and they mentioned the only pieces they had were the two large media cabinets. It was a strange cooincidence because just that morning I had emailed a photo of it to my DH at work and he agreed that we should get that one. I just redid the math and I actually got 50% off. There were just a few small pieces of wood that need to be reglued and it looks great. I still want the Dutch industrial coffee table but there's a booth at my local swapmeet that apparently makes a similar table for half the price. I'm going to take a look once we have the carpet installed.

If you love it and can afford to alter it and possibly ruin the value, it might be possible to have someone just cut the front part of the shelves and divider back a couple of inches to accommodate the depth of the tv. It seems that wouldn't affect the integrity. You could also search for tall glass door cabinets/bookcases with adjustable shelves. You may not find a red one, but if you're willing to paint, or have it painted, you could come close to your CB vision. Another that I can't post pic, but here's a link: Red library cabinet
