Your cupboards look lighter than those in the pix with the granite, so it should work. That granite is "busy" but very interesting-looking. We are trying to decide between granite and quartz, but granite definitely provides more options.

Amazing kitchen. Wow. Before anything else, I'd invest in crown molding of some kind. Then I'd paint the walls in some in-right-now taupe. I might put some beadboard-or even better, paintable and removable beadboard wallpaper, along the farthest wall and accessorize with some little wall shelves and racks, probably dark. Or maybe even a more interesting wallpaper. I'd rearrange the vases and such into a few groupings, leaving some cabinet tops bare, but perhaps I'd add a framed rectangular textile or some such on one of them. Or a few leaning black and white photos. I'd stick a rectangular planter or something to divide the eat in counter, and perhaps set up a table runner or a couple of neutral dark tablemats. I could see some dark textural baskets here and there too. Some more prominent cabinet and drawer pulls might add some definition too. If you were keeping the cabinets, I'd consider tile but not if you will rip out the backsplash in 5 years. And maybe if I did the taupes and beadboard, I'd find some room for these pretty bird stickers. Not all over the place, just a few in one section (maybe the sink wall). I'm a sucker for birds. If removing the 4" backsplash leaves odd walls, I'd just do a tile border. Tile everywhere in a kitchen that huge might seem overwhelming. I'd also consider painting the center island for contrast with all the wood. Out of curiosity, what year is the kitchen? I'm guessing 2003

Hopefully, they will get the yellow marks off (there was a slab stacked in front of it). Msjam, I'm linking to an earlier GW thread about your granite choice. I suspect that the yellow marks are iron oxidation (rust) that originates from within the stone. Wanted to give you a heads up on this so you don't get any nasty surprises on down the road. From what I've read, the iron bits in stone can continue to oxidize and you'll be seeing more or it as time goes by. You might want to investigate further... Colonial Cream Granite discussion
