We also have a leathered surface to our granite. It's been installed now for a few months and so far, I've been very pleased with it. No issues with scratching that I've seen - although we're careful, our GC are less so. Also, haven't had any issues with oil, etc., but they did seal the granite also, which I would imagine helps. I LOVE that it has a "soft, warm" feel to it - it's hard to describe, but I love to touch our granite. Though it's hard - obviously, it's stone...it has a dimension that is difficult to describe other than being "soft and warm". I imagine that others with the same surface would say the same. I love that when the light hits it, we have physical texture (the areas where we have mica bits in it tend to be lower), so the main surface is matte, but the relief area (the mica) is shiny. One slight drawback - I wouldn't want to work bread dough or anything like that directly on the countertop because I think that little bits might get stuck in the crevices...but I haven't tested that and don't plan to really - I use cutting boards, etc. when I'm working with things like that. I did the same thing when I worked with our laminate style countertops too, so it's really no difference now. Elmer, The only reason I responded to you was to dispel the notion that because I am a one man AC company that this some how causes inferior service or delays installs to 3 weeks. Every job is different, but people typically don't realize this. This isn't to knock the decision you made, but to clarify that people have more than a few choices in who they decide to use as their HVAC service contractor. Some people like to be able to call someone directly without a bunch of hoops to jump through (dispatch or worse an answering service or worse still voice mail), some people like to know who is going to come to their home up front with no guessing games. When you use a one man company you have those benefits as well as one opinion to deal with as opposed to in many cases multiple opinions. I am not big enough of a company to become everyone's AC man. I am looking for the 'select few' who want better service and only have to deal with one person. I was set on the Turner grand and found one at my PB outlet for $2200. It’s statesville toffee and I love the color. It does scratch easily but I try to be careful and have one end covered with a throw for my dog. The shape/support is still pretty much like new and we still love it. I also have a James recliner in legacy chocolate and that leather is SUPER durable.

I've only spent a couple hours so far researching F&P for a potential range purchase, and what I've found seems to imply that the company has taken a nosedive in the last few years. Consumer affairs dot com had the company rated at something like four out of five stars, but all the reviews in the last three or four years were all one- or two- stars, mostly for complaints about impossibility of getting parts, service, or response of any kind. I was really disappointed, since I just saw a FP range that I really liked, and was thinking of buying. One person claimed that the FP policy was to only carry parts for FOUR years, so that's a terrible policy change for the worse right there. BIG middle finger to their customers. So it looks to me like they have good engineers and designers, but enough bad management and bad policy to tip the scales in the wrong direction. That leaves too much to luck, given the price point. Too bad, really...
