I've sold several things lately on Facebook Marketplace, but now have hit a snag. I tried to post for sale an orthopedic dog bed. I'm getting blocked from posting it with a message saying my item doesn't meet their commerce policies about health issues. It's very vague and nothing explains it.

They say I can appeal, but when I try to fill out the form to appeal, it says I have to fill out a box that it won't let me fill out. Any ideas?

Try to post without using the orthopedic description. I think that's the problem....it may thing you're trying to sell health related products, which may not be allowed.

Tried taking out orthopedic and then tried taking out the word bed. Same results, but maybe because I used the same pics?

That's strange! I would just ignore those ones. Why would someone respond to an English speaking ad in another language?? If they can't be bothered to translate what they're asking, I wouldn't bother replying. Just delete the message. On a good side note: I bought the most beautiful L shaped desk with a spare side table for only $50 yesterday!!! I have been watching the ads like a hawk for several weeks and this was the best one yet. When I went to pick it up, I asked, "You ONLY want $50 for it???" He looked puzzled. lol It's from Costco and very sturdy. Now we have to play the Swedish game of Ikea and put it together. When I asked if it was going to be apart, I didn't think he was going to completely pull it apart. He did, however bag all the screws and hinges into different baggies and labeled which section they were for, AND he still had the instruction book! I was so impressed!

Bpath, that does sound nice--although of course the downside is the smaller exposure a listing gets when posted to a limited audience. I have several items listed on both Facebook and Craigslist. The Facebook listings are on the general Marketplace plus one for my county and one for a neighboring county. I get more nuisance emails from the FB listings than I do from Craigslist, although Craigslist makes me more aware of possible scams. I got an email yesterday via Craigslist that said, "Good morning. I saw your item for sale. Will you be around today?" Except for the "good morning" part, it sounded very much like a scam email to me, and I almost didn't respond to it. But I'm glad I did, because he was a legit buyer who was happy to get something I was very happy to sell. I met up with him in the afternoon, and it was the most pleasant transaction I've had lately. I have an appointment with another Craigslist buyer this week.

sleevendog, my daughter loves the gluten free Tate's cookies, says they are actually good! I've gotten a few things from the Marketplace, I got a great buy on quinoa and some good olive oil. This last time I got the Red Hot blue chips and the package was smashed and the chips were crumbs. I got an immediate credit to my account when I sent a picture, their customer service is really good. This was my latest box, I also get them twice a month, I order on Tuesdays and get the box the following Wednesday. No matter which time I choose, one or the other is inconvenient and I don't like having to hover over the computer until orders are taken exactly at 4 pm or you'll get nothing but greens. Other than the timing, though, I've been very happy. I'll keep getting boxes until the garden starts "coming in", then I'll be overwhelmed with produce and will suspend the shipments until fall/winter when I need good produce again. Annie

We have better luck on Nextdoor when we were selling items and now that we're giving it away we only use ND. Generally those people are only in your local area, but I have a lady who likes my antiques and she comes up from Cameron (I'm in Raleigh) which is about an hour away. We met over ND. I've gotten used to the nonchalant responses on social media selling. Some are extremely presumptuous and others are ghosts after the first engagement. If I want to get rid of the item, even a free item, I have to be organized, responsive, and respectful. I found that when people put stuff on an online marketplace they're lazy about it. I don't realize that you have to respond to people, you have to answer questions, and you have to be available for it to be picked up or at least put it somewhere where it can be picked up when you're not home. Pretty easy things to do but I understand that some sellers are bad at it. When I post things, it's explicit with lots of pictures so there's no doubt what I'm trying to move. I try to look it up online to see if there's any provenance I can put with it if I don't have it myself. I've successfully moved to antique beds, antique radio, three antique dressers, antique tools, and lots of whatnots and whose it's. As for the artisanal bread not being selected at a food bank, they weren't going to buy it at the store in the first place. It being free wasn't going change their interest in it.

It's not orthopedic or bed or dog, because I search all those terms and stuff comes up. What is under the admin arrow?

Try leaving off the brand name of the bed.

Try a different browser for your appeal. Sometimes, I cannot fill in boxes like that in Firefox, but have no trouble in Chrome or Safari.

There is nothing else besides NONE under the admin arrow.

I tried a different browser; it didn't work there either.

I have used brand names and links to websites in other listings without problem.

I've deleted the listing completely and will try again in a couple days.

I have never been able to post anything on Market Place. I have tried selling Texans tickets with pictures and they never let me. I see hundreds of others.

I'm in the same bind right now with a baby swing! They've also blocked me for listing a pair of boots, and something else I can't recall. I think it's just a glitch on their part. I'm not even sure they read the appeals. Marketplace has lot of baby swings listed, including the exact model I want to sell. It's frustrating. I may try listing it again to see what happens.

If you didn't check the little box to the left of the photo of your item, try doing that first.

I sell quite a bit of stuff in FB groups and on Market Place. On occasion I get that message but have no idea what to do about it. I’ve appealed a few times but never hear anything back.

I thought, you can't advertise babies and dogs on market place. ?

Try pet bed.

Nope, there is currently a dog bed for sale on Marketplace in my area.

A lot of posters selling dogs will post “puppy crate” and a picture of their puppies in the crate. Maybe that’s how it’s picking up your ad - erroneously.
