I've sold several things lately on Facebook Marketplace, but now have hit a snag. I tried to post for sale an orthopedic dog bed. I'm getting blocked from posting it with a message saying my item doesn't meet their commerce policies about health issues. It's very vague and nothing explains it.

They say I can appeal, but when I try to fill out the form to appeal, it says I have to fill out a box that it won't let me fill out. Any ideas?

Try to post without using the orthopedic description. I think that's the problem....it may thing you're trying to sell health related products, which may not be allowed.

Tried taking out orthopedic and then tried taking out the word bed. Same results, but maybe because I used the same pics?

I haven't yet, but I've given things away via the FB Buy Nothing ____ (your region typed here) pages. There have been a couple things I wanted that I saw, but others got to them there, first. I have found homes for two things (something I ran out of time to return to Home Depot, a rug that turned out to be not worth a pile of beans (but could be great in someone's mudroom or a kid's bedroom, just NOT quality enough in a living room - and they made it difficult beyond words to do returns), and some extra chickens. I'd hatched some of my own along with the order I'd placed, and was terribly surprised with 8 out of 10 survivors - and not enough space. SO, a few got another new home to lay in, and someone just wanting cockerels got what I suspect will be dinner when they are big enough. (Which, TBH, I would have done myself, had I the coop space to raise them to size, atm.) Sometime I might try FB's marketplace.

We have better luck on Nextdoor when we were selling items and now that we're giving it away we only use ND. Generally those people are only in your local area, but I have a lady who likes my antiques and she comes up from Cameron (I'm in Raleigh) which is about an hour away. We met over ND. I've gotten used to the nonchalant responses on social media selling. Some are extremely presumptuous and others are ghosts after the first engagement. If I want to get rid of the item, even a free item, I have to be organized, responsive, and respectful. I found that when people put stuff on an online marketplace they're lazy about it. I don't realize that you have to respond to people, you have to answer questions, and you have to be available for it to be picked up or at least put it somewhere where it can be picked up when you're not home. Pretty easy things to do but I understand that some sellers are bad at it. When I post things, it's explicit with lots of pictures so there's no doubt what I'm trying to move. I try to look it up online to see if there's any provenance I can put with it if I don't have it myself. I've successfully moved to antique beds, antique radio, three antique dressers, antique tools, and lots of whatnots and whose it's. As for the artisanal bread not being selected at a food bank, they weren't going to buy it at the store in the first place. It being free wasn't going change their interest in it.

Most people here are pretty good with measurements, but it's not often you seen it right on the photo! It's so crazy not to include measurements, imo, because 90% of inquiries must ask about it!. So I guess FBM has it's own category of furniture--an upholstered chair can be a sofa, or as Sue pointed a regular chair is a "sitting chair". Guess you could flop out on the "small sofa" type chairs, lol.

Lyfia, I think that it depends on where you live if you are able to see the "Buy Now" button. This particular seller does 99% of her sales through shipping. She is actually in WA (sorry, not CA) and almost all of her sales are paid through "Buy Now". My daughter, in MO had the option and was able to buy it for me once the seller changed it back to "for sale" vs. pending (the seller was trying to help me figure it out.) Seattle, I tried different meta sites asking fb support but that went nowhere. They're really good at redirecting though. there was only a small disclaimer that I saw that explained the slow rollout. My gut (and some of you) seem to be telling me that Buy Now still isn't available everywhere-or at least in SE Pennsylvania. I've been buying off FBM since it began in 2016 and I have never seen that option. (That being said, this button could be dangerous!)

It's not orthopedic or bed or dog, because I search all those terms and stuff comes up. What is under the admin arrow?

Try leaving off the brand name of the bed.

Try a different browser for your appeal. Sometimes, I cannot fill in boxes like that in Firefox, but have no trouble in Chrome or Safari.

There is nothing else besides NONE under the admin arrow.

I tried a different browser; it didn't work there either.

I have used brand names and links to websites in other listings without problem.

I've deleted the listing completely and will try again in a couple days.

I have never been able to post anything on Market Place. I have tried selling Texans tickets with pictures and they never let me. I see hundreds of others.

I'm in the same bind right now with a baby swing! They've also blocked me for listing a pair of boots, and something else I can't recall. I think it's just a glitch on their part. I'm not even sure they read the appeals. Marketplace has lot of baby swings listed, including the exact model I want to sell. It's frustrating. I may try listing it again to see what happens.

If you didn't check the little box to the left of the photo of your item, try doing that first.

I sell quite a bit of stuff in FB groups and on Market Place. On occasion I get that message but have no idea what to do about it. I’ve appealed a few times but never hear anything back.

I thought, you can't advertise babies and dogs on market place. ?

Try pet bed.

Nope, there is currently a dog bed for sale on Marketplace in my area.

A lot of posters selling dogs will post “puppy crate” and a picture of their puppies in the crate. Maybe that’s how it’s picking up your ad - erroneously.
