How much space do I really need behind stackable FL washer?
Comments (1)In an open, free space environment, you can push the stack back as far as you want just as long as the water hoses, drain hose and dryer venting are not kinked or compressed in any way. I would not allow the hoses to press against the back wall. The dryer venting must be completly free flowing. Make sure the dryer you select can vent to the side (If that's what you want.) and that the installers will convert the dryer to vent that way. Rear venting is standard....See Morea rubber or a flexible washer machine water hose?
Comments (10)I took a look at prices for the above valve . One vendor used catastrophic in the description. Presently there is constant pressure on these feed lines so the rubber can burst. Even though I have a drain , I am sure the drain will not remove the water fast enough and have damage to a wood floor that butts the laundry room tile. You are correct and I am being both silly and stupid. I was hoping not to have the plumber here again. The operative word is again. I do most of the home repairs but if it involves a torch I leave it for the professionals. I appreciate you postings. Where can I find the above valve?...See MoreHow to hide Washer shut off valves?
Comments (6)I found a wonderful dual valve that has a short stem with a ball knob that you turn both hot and cold water lines on with at the same time. Mine is solid brass and I like the look and feel of it. It is easy enough for my wife to switch. I think stainless can be had for more money. A plumber installed it . Our stand pipe is behind a sheet rock wall, except for a very short pipe that Y's off at the top and protrudes out of the wall. We stick the drain hose into it. No problems with backup or smells....See MoreHiding washer dryer hookups
Comments (9)But you need ACCESS to turn off water in event of flooding...the set I just got rid of had bad shocks on washer which we had replaced once...I ordered a new set and was using the old until the washer developed a problem--water kept running even when door was open--- had to turn off at wall to stop water...and just didn't use any more after that... Personally I would like a water/electrical connection on the wall beside the w/d-- so you could get to it and turn it off lot easier than reaching behind the washer/dryer...we go out of town for longer periods of time. I would like to be able to turn off my water to washer w/o having to move the washer out of way....See MoreAnna King
