A few blooming the last few days

It's amazing how few we have blooming. Our season seems to have ended earlier than normal. Still, we are seeing some rebloom scapes and some late bloomers putting out a few more buds.

Fulvous Brush Man is an offspring of Autumn Minaret but it's not as tall.

This is a species called H. sempervirens.

This is Fulva cypriana X Unknown.

This is Fulva Korean X Mike Longo, which is from Bob's program of crossing Fulva varieties with tetraploids. He hopes for increased vigor and hardiness.

This seedling is New Tangerine Twist X Susuan Ruoff.

This is Ruffled Strawberry Parfait X Last Man Standing.

Evermore Teeth is putting out a rebloom scape. We are not impressed with this one and it will be leaving the garden.

Sandra Elizabeth might be just plain yellow, but when it's the only one blooming in the bed, it's quite nice.

This is not a good picture, but I just couldn't get a better one (and I took several). This is Steeple Jackie. The flower is quite small, but the plant is supposed to be tall. This one hasn't been here long yet, so it hasn't achieved steeple status yet. And yes, I have pollinated those flowers. We would like to see a super tall one in another color other than yellow.

Unstoppable is reblooming. It was one of the first to bloom and now is one of the last.

I'm not sure if this bloom on You're Fired is on a rebloom scape or not.

One more bud keeps putting out those flowers.

Unstoppable is quite a performer. It would a good addition to every garden. I enjoy seeing Bob’s fulva babies

Debra: LTA is new this year so I don't know and these are the FFO's. I got it for the applique pattern it has. Want to try it with a few others to see what develops. BLUE EYED BUTTERFLY is very stunning and the blooms are always fantastic. A keeper for sure. Nancy: This is the second seedling bed I've done and the ones planted last year in a backyard holding bed need to get moved at the end of the season to their new home. I wonder if I'll have the energy to actually do it LOL. CERISE MASTERPIECE took me by surprise as I thought it wouldn't open with the cooler morning we had yesterday. WILD SUMMER WIND is just a fantastic orange color for an early/mid bloom. One similar is SOMBRERO WAY which is a late bloomer so now I will always have some bright orange in the garden during bloom season. Thank you all for the comments. Julia

Thanks Avedon! W. Homestead is probably thanking me for moving it. It was getting too much shade, so I moved it a couple of years ago. It did ok last year, maybe revving up for this year. Julia,Hint of Blue normally really blooms well, it looked pretty good today, but doesn't look like blooms will last long this year. Mantis, Heartbeat of Heaven does look like a possibility for the NOID, the stats pretty well match up. Thanks Kay , Sherry I really like the shape of the blooms on Motown Blues, they always seem photogenic. My fake Siloam will stay here, I quite like it. Debra, I'm quite thrilled with W. Homestead, rarely do I get that much bloom from a plant.

SUNNY ABUNDANCE SUPERSTITION TATTOOED DAUGHTER And this is a goofy little juvenile brown towhee that somehow slipped and got its little self stuck down inside one of the columns of my metal pergola in the backyard. My son and I had to take the base off the column and lift it up in order to get her/him out. Not sure how long it was in there, but it was pretty exhausted and disoriented when it flew out the bottom... and or damn dog almost caught it twice, so we had to put her in the house til the poor birdie could recover from the ordeal and get away.

Maryl: The hibiscus is budded but not open yet. They ruin the blooms, as they did last year, so hopefully putting the bags out now, will entice them to go to the lure. Caught quite a few in the bags yesterday. Debra: Too bad your Maui Sunrise does not deepen like mine. Today is going to be hot again so we shall see what the color is by the end of the day. I never bought, as far as I can recall, those chocolate eyed rudbeckia. Surprised me this year when they opened with that color. mantis: I don't recall saying I planned to get rid of Lavender Cream Cascades but I am moving it to the back smaller garden space which I was suppose to do last year but ran out of time for transplanting. I'm surprised that Boss Lady doesn't give you more buds. I like that the openings are well placed and not bunched up so they fully open. Pattern Evolution has consistently been well scaped and budded. I've had it a few years now. Dick: I have Pretty Desirable but not impressed with it this year. I got it in a trade. The petals and sepals when opening are curling during our cooler temps days. Maybe on warmer days it would open better. We shall see. Many of the daylilies are not bothered by cool mornings while others take a few hours to open fully and by then the sun is higher and harder to photograph. Are you sure Bob did not actually post this? Lots of orange in here!. Lol ....Unstoppable is such a pretty rich red. And a long blooming one as well!

Unstoppable and One More Bud are my favorites of the named ones. I do hope Bob's fulva crosses are successful in bringing out the hardiness and buds of the originals. I know the VTs that Celeste and I have are close to the species daylilies, and hardiness with lots of buds are a great thing with most of them. I can't understand why they don't register them.

Unstoppable is so pretty and good name )) I also like One More Bud and Ruffled Strawberry Parfait seedling. I only have Final Touch still blooming, and a few plants with 1-2 buds.
