Fall blooms Part 1
Comments (10)Christina, OKSANA is one of my favorite roses. I don't particularly like the name, but the rose is so beautiful. It's quite different from anything else. Unfortunately, it's not all that great of a bloomer, and it has weak necks most of the time. But I love it. Irisgal, CDG is a wonderful rose. The form is always so lovely on it. It's really too feminine of a rose to be named for a man, no matter who! And as far as MAVRIK goes, it doesn't blow all that fast, but for a rose with that many petals, I suppose it could last longer in cooler areas. That particular bloom was about 2-3 days old, and it opened up more the next day. Early in the season, the thrips usually do some damage....See MoreThis week's pics...
Comments (12)Thanks everybody. BLACK LADY is one I got many yrs ago from Hortico. They still carry her, BTW. And Heirloom has her but not in stock at this time. For me she grows about 4 1/2ft tall and maybe 3ft wide. She repeats pretty well and doesn't have much disease that I recall. Scent is fairly strong. LOVE'S PROMISE is a really good rose too. Smells good and this photo just doesn't show the velvety texture on the petals. It's an even better bloomer than BL. Ozmelodye, LORISE has a very light scent sweet scent. SVR DE PIERRE GUILLOT doesn't seem to have much scent at all. It blows fast and fades to a pale pink color....See MoreLotsa blooms from the last few days..
Comments (13)Mmmm... not much on EVELYN MAY. Except she's a Peter Beales rose. Got her from Hortico a couple seasons ago. They haven't carried her since I bought her! Been slow to do anything. I put her in the ground last yr and she's perked up quite a bit. I hope to see some fuller blooms. I ordered her based on the oldest pic on HMF put up by "Ian Saxton." I don't know if she'll ever look like that tho. All the other pics look like mine... more open and more of a peach with yellow center instead of that blend of peach, pink and apricot. Oh well, only time will tell......See MoreBlooms from the last few days
Comments (6)My favorite is your narrow purple seedling out of Jerry Hyatt. It will be interesting to see what you get crossing it with Webster's Pink Wonder. If I found that one in my seedling patch, I would definitely be crossing it with UFs. Debra...See Morebethnorcal9
