A few new ones have opened over the last few days. Temps cooled us off so I'm noticing blooms are having a harder time opening. BUT, our temps are due to get back into the 90's.

DOWN HOME - this is the third bloom. Bought this last year but never bloomed.

LIGHTER THAN AIR - new this year. Short scaped but will improve for next year.

Those seedlings all look like they have taken off wonderfully. All your blooms look great but my favorite is WILD SUMMER WIND.

Sorry it has taken me a while to get back and check in. I was out of town for work and just got home. Thanks so much everyone for the compliments. It makes me feel good, I must admit. I always seem to see what needs to be done, and sometimes forget to look at what it is! I will try to answer everyone's questions. Hope I don't miss any. In no particular order... The lilies in the "big" picture are almost all daylilies. The lilies in the close-up pictures I am not sure. Just some bulbs I picked up, probably at a big box store or the local garden center? Sorry I don't have their names. The rose pictured in the 4th picture is Morden Belle. There are actually 3 bushes planted in that bed. I hope that is the rose you meant? Yes, I do have the courtyard of roses and yes they are blooming. However, many of the roses on the fence were taken down this year due to RRD. I have planted bittersweet in their place. Won't be the beautiful flowers, but will provide privacy that won't get RRD. As you can see from the picture below, the fence is now pretty bare looking on the side. I have decided that I will try to keep the roses on the fence across the end and around the corner. The need for privacy there is not so great, as the Wine and Roses weigela in the island bed does screen most of the garden from that end. Again, thank you everyone! Deangreen, that is a birdhouse sold by Rock City. We had to almost rebuild it to make it stable, but I like it because of memories of barns with "see Rock city" signs painted on the roofs. Nat4b, Cast Your Crown is not a large bloom, but packs a lot into the space. Thanks, Jean. That's too bad. A couple of my daylilies took some damage, but I didn't lose any. I did lose so0me roses though. Maryl, The hot pink is Wall of fire, and the red to the right of it is a Munson called African Plum...it is red, but has some purplish hues in it as the light strikes it. I am enjoying Gus, since he likes to keep me company when I'm in the garden...especially when I pick blueberries for some reason. Ikad, it is another small bloom, but such a pretty one. Mantis, he is a pretty little cat. Much smaller than my indoor tabbies. I don't know how it is, but the path isn't as spacious as it once was. I am planning a change in the big front bed this fall. I plan to move the large lilies to another area and plant daylilies and hecheras there. Mantis is right, Chris. that is Wall of Fire...it is an eye-catching bloom and is little bothered by thrips. No, Juliana, Rocks Cry Out and Cast Your Crown are both toothy, but The colors are similar. CYC is about half the size bloom as RCO. RCO has a two color effect to the petals, but not the sepals, (bitone) and CYC had the same color on petals and sepals. CYc has is toothy on sepals and petals. See below for comparison. CYC is much smaller and is red with the golden toothy edge: Because of the color similarity and the toothiness, I'm sure they are "kin", but haven't looked them up. As for being at peak, I have a lot of plants already putting up instant rebloom so who knows how it will end up. I'm sending as many daylilies as he will take home with my brother this week. He is coming up from Shreveport and wants some daylilies. kay

Ugh!! Hate those dang bugs. I am trying so hard not to spray. I have had the worst year with thrips. Have had sooooo many rose blooms with brown on the edges and spotty daylilies. I decided three years ago to stop spraying for bugs and its really really hard once the beetles get here and now I have those dang green grasshoppers that eat up my buds. It seems once one is about gone here comes another. I am clueless at what to do about the thrips though. Soooo frustrating. Sorry to rant on and on!! Your blooms in both post are gorgeous Celeste. As is all the butterflies and sweet Zues and Babe. I too love Party Pinafore (think it was in the other post). Your garden scenes and lilies in those clusters are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing, Judy

Looks like Autumn Wood did well for almost everyone this year. Radiant Ruffles is a great plant. It has a bud count in the 20s and it repeats for me. It usually blooms for about 6 weeks. Cayenne was new for me this year and didn't have a lot of blooms, but I do like the ones it did have and am hoping for more of them next year. Kay and Julia, thanks for the comments on my seedling. Julia, the cross is Wild Mustang x Red Peacemaker.

Beautiful pics Julia! Lighter Than Air is one of my favorites growing here. Seeing your seedling bed reminds me of how mine looked when I first started it. I am getting ready to move my seedling bed which will be quite a chore.

I notice your Lighter Than Air has some pinching in the throat and pleated petals. Does it do that very often? I really like the vibrant color and light sculpting on Wild Summer Wind. I think you will really like Blue-Eyed Butterfly. It's been a great performer here for many years.

Debra: LTA is new this year so I don't know and these are the FFO's. I got it for the applique pattern it has. Want to try it with a few others to see what develops.
BLUE EYED BUTTERFLY is very stunning and the blooms are always fantastic. A keeper for sure.

Nancy: This is the second seedling bed I've done and the ones planted last year in a backyard holding bed need to get moved at the end of the season to their new home. I wonder if I'll have the energy to actually do it LOL.

CERISE MASTERPIECE took me by surprise as I thought it wouldn't open with the cooler morning we had yesterday.

WILD SUMMER WIND is just a fantastic orange color for an early/mid bloom. One similar is SOMBRERO WAY which is a late bloomer so now I will always have some bright orange in the garden during bloom season.

All so pretty!! Favs this time are Cerise, Blue Eyed Butterfly, Lighter Than Air and Down Home. All those seedlings look like a bunch more pretties coming your way. I would like to grow some from seed one day just to get a surprise. ha ha

Wow, all those seedlings, that's wonderful. wish I had the room!! sigh, anyway, I do love Blue Eyed Butterfly , I have it and it is in my top favorite list!!

Hurray for the seedlings!

I want to cheer every time I see a seedling bed. It always bring a smile to me. And here at home, a prod to pull the hose to water.

Very nice Cerise Masterpiece, wonderful color.
