Flooring Design Dilemma Bathrooms

Which direction should we go with our master bathroom floor tile?

Hello, I need some help deciding which direction to go in for our master bathroom flooring.

Long story short; After finding faulty wiring in our newly bought house, we gutted it and did a full remodel. We made a lot of decisions on the fly and had no idea which direction we were headed until we got here.

The master bath is the first to be near completion, with the next major decision in it being floor tile. Every new decision we make seems to be the toughest yet.

Potential Options are:

-Black tile.

-wood-look tile that matches vanity and (eventually) the face of the bathtub.

or

-white tile that matches the wall tile.

I appreciate your insight.

*We aren’t finished tiling the wall yet, but this gives you an idea. The bathtub will have wood panels that match the vanity.

black herringbone floor. you already have a lot of busy elements, but no other black.

I'd also do a charcoal grout to keep it understated.

you can do real black slate or do a black porcelain tile. (or a charcoal porcelain tile

comes in all diff sizes

I like this one

For a clients bathroom, I did a dark charcoal 12x24 floor tile, and a charcoal 1x4 herringbone in the shower.

Thank you!

I was worried the herringbone would be too busy with what we have going.

There are no hard and fast rules for tile orientation. You can run them whichever way looks best to you. My daughter and my son both recently redid their bathrooms and put 12x24 tiles stacked vertically on the walls. They didn't have to decide on vertical vs horizontal for the floor because they used 24x24 squares on the floor. In my bath I have 10x13 vertical on the walls and 18x18 on the diagonal on the floor. IMO the large square tiles make their small floor spaces look bigger. Do your tiles come in squares too? Maybe you could put them on the floor. If you stay with the 12x24s on the floor placing then horizontal ( long side parallel to the tub may make your room look wider). You can still put the wall tiles whichever way you want. Maybe do the 2 bedrooms with carpet and then just match the othere 2 spaces with the same tile. I think trying to match and miss the laminate would be worse.

I like the flooring on the right better. The one on the left that has a bit more going on feels kind of faux to me but not in a good way. I'd stick with 12x24. It just feels more contemporary than a square. I'd run the length of the tile with the length of the room. Enjoy the marble while it looks nice. I do hear it easily discolors with water stains.

keep the grout charcoal or black just like this, and this size, and it will look great

there's also a plain gray, but I like the black w/your wood and your countertop

Actually, no, I don’t. I think that looks awesome.

Thanks for the insight. I think I’ll push for the black herringbone.
