Help! When to plant perennial bulbs outdoors in pots?
Comments (3)I would advise you to pick up a copy of Fine Gardening's special issue on Container plantings. A Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. should carry it. It will give you tons of inspiration for absolutely gorgeous container gardens that will give you pleasure all summer long. Bulbs are very nice, but the vast majority of them bloom for only a couple of weeks and then you have to let their foliage continue to grow and ripen for a couple of months after that, at which time they go dormant (disappear) until next year. You want some plants that will look great all summer long! (You can always plant spring bulbs under the summer plants that will bloom and go dormant before your perennial plants get going in the summer.) Once you get the magazine and read up, take it with you to a good garden center next spring. If it's your first garden, we all want it to be roaring success for you! :)...See Moreoutdoor plant please help

Comments (11)Cyn, the peanuts in hose is a brilliant idea. I have two enormous not-clay planters that I like to be able to move. Right now I have cinder blocks on their ends inside and a plastic pot on top. heavy, but it can be disassembled. Your way would be so much better. My faux planters are in a shady area and they do get a bit green, not terrible. I call it patina! I prefer foam over clay because it is lighter and doesn't crack it cold weather. I leave the soil in them....See MoreNeed help with 5yr old lemon plant - indoor 2 outdoors
Comments (6)Hi Josh, I’d listen to John’s pruning advice, but I might wait until you put it outside, since it’s nearly that time anyway. There’s always diffferences of opinion on potting mediums here, but as long as your managing your watering properly, that’s the most important thing. If it hasn’t been repoted in a while, I’d suggest repoting it in fresh, quick draining medium. Be sure to barefoot the plant before adding new potting medium. Also, you should start a fertilizing regimen. Most of us use foliage pro dynogrow because slow release granular fertilizers aren’t designed for container plants (although some of us do it anyway)....See MoreChristopher CNC
