Floof post: Getting ready....
Comments (29)Maybe eld . However, these were not coworkers at all. They were truck drivers, either bringing stuff in or picking stuff up. Mr. Kit Kat comes in frequently, and is rather obnoxious anyway, and Reeses boy just started coming in there recently, and had no clue that he was talking to the treat provider/decorator. Again,I don't think I feel ownership over the treats. They are for everybody. I am just amazed at how rude and obnoxious some people can get about something that supposed to be a nice gesture and fun. (How DARE you not make sure that there is more than 1 free Reeses cup!) As for money,I do get contributions. It's usually the same people every year. So far, in my pumpkin pig I've brought in about 30 bucks. I don't get annoyed if people don't contribute and they get a treat or two.I get annoyed when people don't contribute, yet come get enough snacks to live off of. Or I get annoyed at the people who work in that office with me,as i mentioned above. They will nag people to put change in the pig(something I NEVER do. I put the pig by the candy for those that want to put in. I don't ever TELL people to put money in it. ),yet I get nothing from them, and they eat more than anyone. It's a year round thing though really. The obnoxious entitlement that is.We provide them with free coffee. As a courtesy. They often complain that we only have regular and hazelnut coffeemate, not this or that flavor. They actually think it is a job requirement for us to drop whatever are doing if the coffee pot is empty and make it for them. Someone actually yelled at me that they would have me fired for not "doing my job" and get off the phone with a customer that second and make him some free coffee. Yeah. Good luck with that. You can't be nice to some people. They become rather entitled. I don't get it. But, I refuse to let the few doofuses dampen my Halloween happiness, especially as I got my Charlie Brown working, and that made my whole month. I can feel it. This is the year that the Great Pumpkin finally shows up....See MoreFloof: Are you "Brand loyal?"
Comments (52)I didn't think I had any brand loyalties until I came to Glenda's post. I make a pea salad that my family loves, and it HAS to be made with the LeSeur brand English peas! No other brands taste right! If I can't get that brand, I don't make that salad. I use very few canned vegetables, prefer fresh or frozen. And I avoid store brands of canned and frozen, quality and flavor just seems inferior. I use Viva plain white, 'select a size' paper towels and Charmin mega rolls of toilet paper. Kraft mayo Thomas 'Everything' Bagels Johnsonville fresh brats Philadelphia Cream cheese (store brands have weird texture and no flavor) There's probably more, but my brain doesn't seem to be in full function mode today. We have two grocery stores here, Walmart and HEB. Both seem to be (not so) slowly eliminating name brands and replacing with their own store brands. Which I hate! ! ! Although I have noticed that both, and Walmart probably more so than HEB, are adding a wider variety of some things. Cooking oil, for example. They now offer coconut, avocado, walnut, sunflower, and a couple of others in addition to the 'regular' oils. And also more and more gluten free products, flours, and such. But I've wandered completely off topic, sorry. . . . . . . . Rusty...See MoreFloof!! Waaaaay too early.
Comments (30)We love to decorate at Christmas time. My other favorite is Halloween but I don't put up that much stuff except for on Halloween night. I have an Easter wreath for the front door and that's about it for Easter. Same goes for Saint Patrick's Day. We don't put up more than a wreath but we still celebrate it usually by watching Harrison Ford's version of The fugitive. I was very surprised when my daughter said she wanted me to keep all of the Christmas decorations. I was trying to downsize so she wouldn't have anything to deal with but she vehemently protested. DS and DN are not interested in any kind of decoration Etc. So it all goes to my daughter. We store our Christmas stuff in one closet in the spare room. I was hoping it to get it down to half of the closet but that's okay as we would not use it anyway. The Easter Thanksgiving and Halloween decorations are all in one container and are in our garage....See MoreFloof-ish. Are you a fan?
Comments (49)Yes, rob. That was sort of the premise for my whole post. The tedium of ceremony before getting to the point. Whether it be a celebration, a get together, a sporting event, a show, a class or test, a meeting, an announcement, anything. I was wondering if anyone actually enjoyed such, and if not, why it is still so prevalent to fiddle faddle around before the main event? Think gender reveals. All sorts of leading up to things, trying to build suspense, for what? if you want people to know what you are having send an announcement out. If you wanna have a party about it just do so. We're having a boy/girl! Come celebrate with us! Its that easy. It would work for most other happy events. We got married! Come celebrate with us! The kid graduated! Come to a party to celebrate! I think it would be better if people keep in mind that a lot of people only attend such events either out of obligation/guilt, or indeed to take the opportunity to get together with family and friends. I know that the bridal industry pushes the idea of a fairy tale wedding HARD so that a lot of young people think that they NEED to have such an event, and get excited for it. Thus the tradition of family and friends and friends of family showing up to suffer through, in order to get an opportunity to see each other. Why not just get married and then have such a party? Same thing with things like training or meetings. No one is there for fun. We are here because we have to be. No, I do not want to see your pretty little PowerPoint slides, unless they are RELEVENT to why I am here. I do not want to play an ice breaker. I either already know someone or will likely never work with them, so stop wasting time, get to it so I can get out. I am an adult and can either get along with everyone or at least fake it for works sake. I need no help from an ice breaker game. get to it. Or a game. I want to watch THE GAME! Not someone warbling and over embellishing the national anthem to try to make it stand out. Not a dance or cheerleading routine. The game was supposed to start as 7. Its 8:30 and nothing sports related has happened. I will for sure attend all the future weddings of my nieces and nephews that I am able. Out of OBLIGATION and GUILT, because I am their aunt and I love them. And I will make small talk and rant and rave over the decorations and how lovely the colors looked and how well done the ceremony was......then I will be thankful that it is over. I do hope I have at least one that thinks like me.........See Moreamylou321
