Advice on converting first-floor full bathroom to half bathroom
Comments (19)As a real estate appraiser I would advise to try to keep it. It will reduce the valuation by a few percent. If I were to appraise your home, I would now have to compare and adjust it from a 3 bathroom home to a 2.5. That's anywhere from $2,500 to $5,000 adjustment downwards. Understand that I don't know where you live or your real estate market. Even though there is no bedroom on the floor, it's a very usable space. At the very least, I'd put in a shower. You just never know when someone will lose their mobility. It looks like an older home. If your laundry room is in the basement, you may want to reconfigure it to bring the laundry up to the main living area. That would be an improvement in utility and the only reason why I would consider eliminating it. Hard to see everything, but you could reconfigure the doorway/entry and take over that vestibule area....See MoreUpdate dated bathroom (cream tile, oak and polished brass) w/o Reno
Comments (8)These are all very good thoughts! I’ve been looking on Facebook Market and Craigslist for used vanities or floor sample sale items, and I’ll continue to do that. We’ve been by a couple of warehouses that have items from demolition, but nothing has quite worked yet. Habitat for Humanity May be a good place to look though - we haven’t been there! For removing the shower door, I didn’t think of that for a full shower. Can that be done? I figured doors were necessary, and my husband didn’t like the idea of just covering the doors with a shower curtain. Getting rid of it could be good.. I think changing out the mirror, light and paint could be the first step to take sooner than later. Complication to white is that this tile is cream colored. See this pic to see the difference... still neutral at least! I think I can move forward with navy and gold accents, right?...See MoreBathroom renovation dilemma
Comments (7)hard to tell if that travertine leans more yellow or more taupe. you'll have to get samples and see how they look. (I'd stay away from anything yellow or golden toned) I like a nice black and white palette, w/some accent colors. you have great light in there. bring in some green plants. hang them or put them on shelves. You also have that great wall above tub. do something with it! if you do the doors dark like this, bring in the white walls, black and white accents. you could do soft gray blues, or gray greens, soft sage tones, soft whites,...See Morebathroom dilemma
Comments (9)Thanks for extra pics. The back tub shower wall looks much different with the floor & counter showing - in a good way. Don’t mention your sonogram image to guests & put that image into their heads! 😁 I would first try a clear shower curtain so that the wall can be seen - it’s a design feature - don’t waste it. There are clear curtains with graphic designs on them - find one with black design....See Moreburnitup1
