There Once was a silly song; 'It's Me AGain Margaret"

I feel as if I should say something like that since I am back with rebloomers, Mica has a 52 inch scape and has had several nice double blooms: It had a double prolif which I gave to a friend and it is doing beautifully too.

My plants just keep on putting up rebloom scapes and it must be at least partly due to watering. I am still regularly finding scapes on plants that have been through blooming for some time. I am sorry i you are tired of them, but I can't seem to not take and share the photos.

You really have a lot reblooming, and some really nice ones! I have 2 of the Whip City plants, 1 does really well, the other not so much, but it gets shade.

I tried to pick a favorite, but I really like them all. Maybe Alice in La La land, the name strikes my fancy.

Way to go Steve. Not only are you a grand gardener, but a talented storyteller. You should put together a book with your short quips and life lessons. I bet it'd be a best seller. I was lucky like that last year at the MD State fair. One of my flower arrangements won blue, Champion and then Reserve Grand Champion. It's a thrill. This year 2 blue ribbons and 4 second. More people should enter the fair. Healthy competition between gardening friends is a good thing. I wish I had known you entered another of your flowers. I remember your win a few years ago with the gladiola. Congratulations, Steve.

The Food Safety Classes I've taken suggest 2-hours at room temperature and if the ambient temperature is 90Â°F or warmer, then 1-hour. "Keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold" and the the danger zone for hot and cold foods - 40Â°F to 140Â°F. Naturally, there are foods that aren't as perishable as others and they all need the right conditions for a microorganism, that is present in food, to form a toxin. Clostridium botulinum can develop into a toxin in foil-wrapped baked potatoes - something people wouldn't consider as perishable and prone to bacterial growth as other foods. This can happen in your refrigerator. Because the symptoms of botulism may develop anywhere between eight hours to eight days after ingesting the toxin (most commonly within 12-48-hours), it's symptoms can often be mistaken for flu - long after the food was consumed. You may find some supporting information in the Fact Sheets at the link below. If that doesn't work, make an appointment with someone from your local health department for more information. I ALWAYS begin to cry when I hear the song "Ooh Child". I was driving home from visiting a very close family member in the hospital one day when I was a senior in high school and it was pouring outside. As I was driving my windshield wipers stopped working and the rain was so bad I had to pull over and sit. At that moment I was so upset because I knew that soon that family member would die and I was also upset because here I was stuck in a rainstorm. All of a sudden whatever song that was on the radio cut out and "Oooh Child" came on. I felt like it was her speaking to me because she was in a coma at the time and died a few days later. Years later I had my son and had just left his father and was in the car driving and I was sobbing over my life. I was talking to that family member in my mind and again that song came on. Now whenever I hear it I become teary eyed and think of that special family member. What is in a pot does not matter, as long as it's not toxic to the plant in some way, just its' texture & ability to retain moisture & oxygen @ the same time. If it has no inherent fertility, very effective fertilizers exist to serve those needs. I don't doubt you at all. I don't have access to ingredients for that so I can't offer any feedback about it. If buying a bag, I look for cactus/palm soil, but go more by weight over what it says, and look for a broke bag to inspect and make sure there's no peat in it, and hopefully not much perlite. If it's not lightweight for its' size, it's not helping me reduce the weight of larger pots, and probably not going to help with keeping more oxygen in the soil. Digression alert, probably on this whole post... I don't want to be confusing either, and do not offer any of this as a recommendation because it has evolved over quite some time of trial'n'error, and other, personal factors like personal acute dislike of perlite & seeing those little white things in my pots, a lot of reading about roots & microbiology, dislike of spending much $ to have something in a pot in which a plant can grow, realizing that if there is no peat, I can probably keep a plant alive, ...and especially to someone in the middle of a city without a yard. I'll use anything but peat/potting soil, and often add some roughage from compost pile. Dracaenas grow fine in ground dirt from the "good dirt" part of a tended plot, especially if I'm going to repot them often anyway. Fine for smaller plants but way too heavy for a plant of decent size. Since all old "dirt" gets put into flower beds, I don't put anything in pots that I wouldn't put in/on the ground. This is why I quit buying flats of annuals to use in the ground and started putting my house plants instead, because I kept finding styrofoam instead of perlite in the soil of them. I refuse to bury other people's non-biodegradable trash in my yard.

They all look beautiful! I think my favorites are Peppy and Heart of Glass. It's great that you are getting so much rebloom.

Thank you, Nancy and Debra. Some of the plants that didn't bloom their regular amount during the season are now re-blooming on multiple scapes and the scapes are a good bit taller. My rainbow maker had been just above foliage the two years I have had it, but It is a good six inches higher now. Weird, but nice.

Kay - I agree it's the water that makes the difference with rebloom. Different years I've focused on watering varioius gardens. The ones that get the most water, always have the most rebloom. Now that I mainly just water my seedling beds, that's where most of my rebloom is this season.

After you mentioned Rainbow Maker is getting ready to rebloom, I checked mine. It does have one rebloom scape coming, and that's in a garden I haven't watered since mid June.

Sherry, i have been posting so long that it just seems that most everyone should be tired of my photos. Thank you. And Debra, I am sure it is the watering. I just double the payment for the water bill because I know it is going to be at least that much. Some days Iwater for most of the day. I have noticed that extra watering seems to avoid most rust problems right here in the rust belt. It probably prevents stress from the extreme heat. Rainbow Maker re-bloomed last year and I am pleased that it is blooming much taller than before.

I really thought I had commented on your post!! I think I have CCS (Current Covid Syndrome) at times as I cannot remember anything! I really like Heart of Glass and La La Land. Tavaris Multicolor is really pretty-I think it looks better than the first round!! But they are all pretty!

These are wonderful Kay. I always enjoy your posts. I haven't had much time over the past couple of weeks for the garden or taking photos. I so miss it and it is a jungle out there. Rain is scarce here but we did swing back down in temps but they seem to be on the rise once again. Next week they say we will be in the 70's. Love it.

I still have couple of those "jungle beds" but with working early for a couple of hours and again late when it is not quite so hot, I am making progress on the weeds. 70s sounds like heaven. We will supposedly be in the high 80s next week and that would beat what it has been here.. There has been rain all around us, but we haven't had any lately, but since I can, I turn on the sprinkler. The re-blooms have been much taller than during the regular season, and I assume it is the rain too.

Hi Folks , just taking a moments break from digging and weeding . I am removing a path between 2 gardens and turning it into one garden ( reduces the amount of push mowing my hubby has to do . I have to remove the hostas , weeds etc and then that gives me spots to move and plant daylilies that didn't bloom this year due to being in too much shade . I have done this in several spots here this summer . UGH ! it is a big job.

I am hoping for rain on Sunday and some cooler temps next week after that perhaps I will get some rebloom. I dug up a fairly mature Rose of Sharon and moved it and so have been keeping it well watered which I can't do everywhere being on a well but I have the daylily Batman growing near and for the first time EVER I have a rebloom scape on it !!! It has got to be the watering .

Thank you for looking and commenting. There are quite a few images of Heart of Glass that ;look like mine; that being said, for some reason, plants appear as bi-color in my garden that do not necessarily look bicolor elsewhere; Long legged L** Dancer and Debra's Dearest Valentine.

Iam a member of NGA but had an unhappy experience4 the last time I attempte to share a photo, so I am unlikey to do so again.

I agree that watering or ample rains make all the difference in re-blooms. My rebloom scapes have also been much taller. I will be curious to see if additional water makes that kind of difference next year. I am very sorry for those, like wells. Here is hoping your watering leads to rebloom.
