The main practical thing about placement of fruit bearing trees is that each spot chosen lend itself to accessing the tree for harvesting as well as typical maintenance activities like pruning and spraying. And that trees are located where fallen, unpicked fruits will not be a particular nuisance because of what they are falling into or on.

My mother never wanted a fruit tree out front because we lived across from a grade school and she did not want children picking the fruit. She was not stingy, she was worried about liability. It would not be a problem today as children are usually driven to school.
