Dining room remodel: feature wall, carpet ideas?
Comments (8)Your room is very nice. It won't take much to make it look fresh and pulled together. The style of the art and the style of your new light fixture are not playing nice together. I would also add some color on your table. Pick something that will echo a color from your new art. Someone posted here a while back, "decorate where the people will be". A large feature wall is just going to draw attention away from the dining area and also grab your eye from other parts of the house. It's not going to make the finished, decorated look that I think you want. It will look like a lobby. Your carpet is a little bland and doesn't add anything to the room. Is there wood under your carpet? Can you pull it up and add a nice area rug? What color are the pillows and cushions on your sofa? Would you be happy using that color in the dining room?...See MoreDining Room...need to add some interest!
Comments (22)With what shows in your pics it seems you are somewhat of a minimalist...so i would be careful with any additions....curtains or drapes may look cramped in the space that is there for them....as is what is missing is a dramatic centerpiece for the table...something low and wide as the table seems a little tall for the chairs...i might remove the two chairs in the corners and have only 6 chairs...at the table ...again establishing a more roomy but minimal look... a runner in a thick textural material would be a nice contrast with all the hard surfaces....something organic,maybe,...like woven reeds or a thick handwoven African textile....since the light fixture is a row of lights...something soft in a fan shape would add to the contrast and will catch the eye....if the sky was the limit i would bring in fewer...but bigger...softer...more luxurious chairs ...to match the scale of the table and contrast with the table’s simplicity......See MoreNeed some ideas with furniture placement in this living-dining room.
Comments (7)Near the patio door, I'd put a nice sized console/buffet on that wall. This can hold anything you need to carry from the kitchen to the patio. Put your TV on that large wall with the sofa facing it. The dining table would go near the window that is close to the kitchen....See Moredining room Tandoori color, I need some wall or rug advice.
Comments (5)I think a fabulous rug, rich and colorful and patterned, would add a lot of depth to this lovely room. To me, something plain and neutral would just be lost, and about as interesting as a door mat. You have very light tile surrounding it all, so you can certainly have something strong. I love how these look — mix of traditional with your wonderful creativity. They look like family heirlooms with lots of history. https://www.rugsdoneright.com/products/nourison-living-treasures-li01-rust-rug https://incrediblerugsanddecor.com/collections/oriental-weavers-sedona-rug-collection/products/oriental-weavers-sedona-9592b-blue-gold-area-rug https://incrediblerugsanddecor.com/collections/top-sellers/products/karastan-spice-market-alcantara-saphire-area-rug https://incrediblerugsanddecor.com/products/loloi-javari-jv-08-berry-sunrise-area-rug...See More- 3 years agolast modified: 3 years ago
