Exterior just finished. Why does it look weird?
Comments (16)Nice house! I love those windows! The colors aren't coming through correctly on my monitor. I'm just seeing brown with a cream trim. I can't see the stone around the garage. Can you get a better picture? What is the style of the paneling on your garage door? To me it's coming across as bottom heavy without more white trim on the lower level. I'd like to see you get some of that white on the garage door. If the panels mirror the shape of your windows, maybe you could highlight that some way....See MoreDoes this look weird? new shaw's sink :(
Comments (66)I know this is an old thread but I'm coming across the same situation as ebse...the KD is claiming that's how it should look but she can order me the panel (I'd have to wait weeks to get it) if I "prefer the look" of the panel. I'm kinda offended that she wants me to pay for the panel when I'm the one being inconvenienced by having to wait weeks for the panel to come in when she should've known that it would look goofy without the panel. (Hasn't she worked with farm sinks before?) ebse - if you're still on the forum, did you pay for your panel? anyone - am I unreasonable to expect the KD to pick up the $85 tab for the panel since it really is their mistake and I'm being inconvenienced here? I was hoping to finish the kitchen soon but now have to wait a few weeks longer b/c of this!...See MoreDoes this look too weird? (And another question)
Comments (14)I think you can go either way and it will look fine. Will you need filler b/w the wall and the stacked Bev Centers? If you're concerned about the "unbalanced" look of the finished panel on only one side of the refrigerator alcove, I think the filler will take care of that look. However, if you are trying to maximize counter space, remember that each wall will take 4" to 5" away from the counter (and cabinet storage); whereas finished panels only take about 3/4". So, if you need the extra counter or cabinet space, I'd go with the finished panels. If you have plenty of counter and cabinet space, then go with what you like best. I do like Sarschlos' idea, but it only gives you a very shallow Message Center. If you want a Message Center, there are several options: * Sarschlos' idea (alcove on kitchen side) OR * an alcove on both sides (one facing the kitchen, one facing the Nook) OR * instead of the walls and alcove(s), put a finished panel on the kitchen side and then put in a shallow cabinet turned side ways on the Nook side. It could be a 12" deep upper and lower w/a counter b/w (my preference) OR a 12" deep pantry-style cabinet with doors on the upper & lower to store charging phones, etc. I have to agree with others. Unless there's a compelling reason for the staked Beverage Centers (maybe you already have them?), I would look into either the wider all fridge & all freezer or purchase an additional 24" refrigerator to fit in the space you have for the Bev Centers...but it should probably be the same "style" as the larger one, if possible....See MoreDoes this look weird?
Comments (16)Ok, I see the growing consensus. Olychick, "altar to the TV" is right! Lol. But that is one of the main purposes of this area. We have a living room and other areas with no TV, and we don't watch too much TV, but this area is for TV watching when we do watch TV. DH, DS and I are avid tennis fans and we watch tennis and news here. I watch movies with my friends here. We are not home much and want to relax just sitting when we are home. So, it shall be the altar it was meant to be.:-) The current arrangement feels and lives better IRL, but the chopped off sectional does look odd. The sectional is made by Cisco Brothers. I don't think they have this line currently on the market, but if I could find a love seat in that style by Cisco I will replace the incomplete part with a love seat. If I can't find it, I may put another love seat or some other seating along the wall. Ghostlyvision, I will try that arrangement when I have some help with moving the pieces. Blfenton, moving the chairs back any further would impede with traffic flow. Crl, the corner in the sectional is just too deep to be functional even with multiple end tables, but it's a government d suggestion. If anyone has any suggestions for other seating along the wall, please let me know. I need to hang some paintings, and the choice of what art goes there would depend on what the seating arrangement is near that wall. Thanks everyone!...See MoreKathleen Cox
