Kosher kitchen and do a lot of baking. 5 kids so lots of cooks in the house. Not looking to change lifestyle. Just want a better layout. :)

Looking for some ideas abt how to redesign the kitchen so that the table is in a better place.

With the dining room conveniently located where it is, along with the large island, my question would be... Is the Breakfast table *really* necessary/desired? ;-) Are you already accustomed to having this kind of arrangement?

I totally understand having a big family (I currently have 6 kids + 1 in utero), and when I saw your plan, I thought, "Whoa, awesome; this chick has nearly twice as many kids as I do!!!" lol It seems like a lot of space dedicated to eating, given the number of people, is all. <3

Maybe rotate the whole thing 90 degrees. put the fridge and wash sink near the dining room. put the table in the upper right corner. you'll lose a little space to keep your walkways but it's a pretty substantial kitchen so it should still work.

can you eliminate the butler pantry - move the pantry over into that space (keep the pantry size just move over)

Then you can center the breakfast table

Do you have a passover kitchen somewhere else in the house?

If it was me I would skip the kitchen table, build an island with more seating, move the pantry to space where kitchen table is and replace the pantry/ butlers pantry with a passover kitchen - it really saves so much stress to have one.

If you put the pantry entrance where the deep cupboards are it would flow better...I find that if the kids have a zone that is pantry/fridge/microwave then they are not getting underfoot in the really active areas. Then you could put either a piece of furniture or cupboards on the wall where the pantry door is presently. The location of the wall ovens seems a really long way from the pantry and fridge and impinging on the breakfast area....and are not the prettiest thing to look at coming into the kitchen. But if not there, then where? If you moved the pantry door, you might have room next to it for wall ovens and a small landing space and then the pantry door...but then the ovens are opening in the main traffic pattern....with 5 kids traipsing through, what could possibly go wrong? I would forego island sink, unless you really have your heart set on it...it’s really close to the sink across the aisle, and I really like having an unencumbered prep space on the island. I would also swap DW and trash area on that sink so That you have room to manouver when the DW door is open. Is the butler’s pantry function that of a bar? To service both the family room and dining room?

Meat and Dairy are stored, prepared, and eaten separately. :-) Their consumption together is forbidden, so steps must be taken to avoid cross contamination.

Guessing at which will be meat or dairy, and the layout would depend on the weight-bearing corner being adjusted toward the stairs (I don't know if that's possible--maybe the wall oven could be moved to the right if the span needs to be reduced).

This makes the island less of a barrier and leaves a clear path from the fridge to each of the prep spaces. The island has six seats, and even with the bench, the table should still seat 8. The breakfast table might not be absolutely necessary with the DR so close, but during gatherings the table can be used for serving and drinks.

I omitted the butler's pantry, but left a passage, and left off the pocket doors and pantry door for simplicity's sake--you can add those back in. One trash pull-out on the corner of the island can be shared by all zones.
