What kind of Washer for 2nd floor of old house 1894 wood floor
Comments (13)I briefly owned a Bosch FLer that caused vibration problems. My laundry room is on the first floor, over a basement. The placement is such that the two rear legs are directly above the main support beam in the house. As it turns out, my floor is too flexible for a Fler. As I was unwilling to spend the kind of money that would be needed to fix this and still look good, I returned it and got the Whirlpool Cabrio HE. So far I love it, I have not had any problems with the laundry, and there are no vibrations even on high speed spin. I was afraid to get this at first because of stories I have read, but I am so glad I tried it. My salesman wanted me to try the Duet FLer to see what would happen, and said he would change it out again if that caused vibrations, but I was getting really tired of waiting for deliveries and pick-ups (my first front loader had a problem and had to be replaced). Good luck, let us know what you decide and how it works out for you. Just make sure that the store you purchase at is willing to exchange if there is a vibration problem, and that they will not charge you for restocking or delivery of another machine....See MoreFound the rest of the original wood floors
Comments (2)The newspaper thing must have been "the thing to do" - we found some when we pulled up the lino in our house too. At first I thought they were giving us a time capsule for posterity... but my husband said it was more likely sound proofing or something. Isn't this fun? You are so lucky there are no nail holes! We had some, but only around the perimeter - not in the middle of the rooms - and thank goodness, no adhesive!...See MoreWhat kind of wood floors have been hiding here?

Comments (7)A good flooring person should be able to determine the species of the original wood and match it. You'll have to redo all of the floors to get matching stain but it will look like it was all done at the same time. Definitely go for real wood, putting a faux wood (like laminate, tile, or vinyl) next to real wood never turns out well....See MoreSarah Stevens
