So, just a quick update. Still waiting on the rug & pillows to arrive. In the meantime a World Market *just* opened up near us and they had cinnamon pillows! I also found a funky wooden "tray" that I liked. Do the old pilllows go? Or do I need to find something else to tie it in? Also, thinking of hitting West Elm tomorrow. Browsing their website I found this cluster of vases I like - might put these on the console. Maybe the mantle? I need something warm on the TV console too.. I also found these blue ones, don't think I like them as much. They also had some cherry wood ones, but I think if I redo the large framed artwork I won't need them up there. Maybe use these for the TV console? Or keep looking? Also saw this chair at World Market that I like, but I'm going to wait until the carpet comes in. It's getting there!

Mittens Cat, I also have light sensitivity due to migraines, chronic recurrent corneal erosion, and iritis (latter 2 cause scarring, vision loss, sometimes extreme sensitivity). I had to use 2700 k, but our kitchen has warm colors, and I actually wanted the warm light. 3000 k looks better with cooler colors IMO, but also can be used with warm shades. Still, my eyes couldn't tolerate it. I suggest you make very sure you can tolerate the 3000 k before making that commitment. DH put 3000 k in the utility room as they can be dimmed, and unless they are dimmed to the extent it's pretty dark, it's not tolerable for me. He had to change them to 2700 k. It is a warmer yellowish light as opposed to the cooler bluish light. Some people have a preference, others don't. Sorry if that adds to your spinning head : )

you'll need to keep to the warmest shades of colors you'd prefer, in order for them to still work with your flooring. Gray-warmest greige bordering taupe might work Off white-warmest off white might work You'll need for both colors to go together too. As for countertops-no I wouldn't go for marble look quartz, too cool (temperature-wise) with your floors, and pattern is distinct and bold..too much with your flooring. Stones are bossy and picky and it's often hard to have several in one space. You can pick more uniform surface though for a "cleaner" look. Plain Quartz? A natural stone that has more uniformity to it? You can make it less busy..you can't completely drift away into cool color pallette as long as your floors stay. They'll always dictate your colors, to a degree. Or rather, shades of colors.

I think brown and gray can look great together and is a classic style. Going by these pictures, your room already looks nicely cohesive. I really like how the brick and wood tones look with your gray furniture. You‘re on the right track — rug, pillows, art, and other decor will really bring it all together even more. To get into more specific suggestions, what style(s) are you thinking of? Do you want to go in a modern direction, or traditional, or mix of those? Do you want to bring in more colors, or keep things more monochromatic? Some brown/gray rooms I think look fantastic: Just playing around ... for instance, this rug from Room and Board.
