Rock Wall Update - 2 Pics
Comments (6)Haziemoon - Yup, winter is going to make this all look pretty homely. Luckily, it's in the rear of the house and I won't be out there much, except to grab an occasional armful of firewood for the fireplace. Gurley157fs - I followed your thrift link and I really like that plant. It should work in my zone and looks great. I wonder why I don't see more about it. Maybe I'm just poorly informed. :) Patti - Thanks. I like the sunflowers there, too. How nice of them to pick that spot to grow. NancyjeanMc - The vines are just annual morning glories. You can just make out the small blooms here and there if you look closely. I'm really hoping to have some clematis there next year, maybe Sweet Autumn (I think I have the name right). Georgeanne - I'm with your DH. I really like to have something to actually look at in order to build things. I have messed up so many times just trying to wing it, that I now force myself to carefully draw and dimension everything before I start sawing or digging. With plantings and rock walls, if you mess up it's easy and cheap to undo and redo. I hope your DS and DDIL like Michigan. GR has some very nice areas. Thanks to all for your comments. Comments (5)This would be my solution: Build a fireplace surround with drywall or cement board - check local building/fire code. It will hide the top half of the stone. Maybe you can salvage the stone to be added to the sides on the inside of the box around the wood stove. A low (lower than the mantle) bookcase with glass doors (woodstoves create dust) on either side with a table lamp on each. Looks like you have the outlets for them. The mantle will hide what looks like a thermostat. The rounded hearth is not optimum, but will do. You may be able to re-install the boards horizontally and paint them a semi gloss white (or not, see images) for a farmhouse look....See MoreBest wall color with dark pallet wall and fireplace update
Comments (4)ok,,but can't we see the room? I understand the pallet wall isn't in yet, but it would be nice to see the actual room layout. whats on the floor? what furniture is in there? hows the lighting? lets see the actual fireplace in the basement. BTW, I love this black fireplace you've done in your living room. great colors. If I may make one suggestion? remove that white mantle, it's too traditional looking, and replace w/a wood one stained dark like your pallet colors something like this. this wood looks way better than that white something around this size (if you could find a nice piece of walnut, it'd be perfect) Here,,I photoshopped it for you so you can see and more of a reclaimed piece...See MoreHelp! I need advice on Family Room Paint/Fireplace/Wall
Comments (24)@BeverlyFLADeziner I am liking that! Any suggestions on a blue paint color? Thoughts on if this rug could be placed in the room? (Pic of our current family room) or too much blue? https://www.potterybarn.com/m/products/bosworth-tufted-wool-rug-blue/?cm_cat=Google&sku=9076063&catalogId=84&cm_ite=9076063&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0cX79KG96AIVOv_jBx1m0gEnEAQYASABEgLD-_D_BwE&cm_ven=PLA&cm_pla=Rugs > Patterned Rugs Any chance you could make fireplace maple again but keep everything else blue? I like the idea of keeping that to tie in to kitchen. Thank you!!...See Morehoussaon
