Which freestanding tub to buy?
Comments (1)Also look at Duravit. You don't have to get a "whirlpool" effect to have a really good soaking tub. Tubs are divided into several categories, including soaker (or soaking - meaning no jets), whirlpool, jetted, and spa. Try googling all of the above and find what is just right for you. I just bought a non-jetted sterling tub....See MoreHelp needed! Securing a freestanding tub to a tiled wooden platform.
Comments (13)Just fyi, I stood on top of them at installation...and reinforced how precious that tub was...and that I really wanted them to be careful! It was an expensive investment for me and I wanted it installed with kid gloves...so I stood there while they did it. You should too. :-) If I had not been there, the contractor would have had them put the sealant all around the edge of it....thankfully I was there to tell them not to!...See MoreNeed Help Choosing Freestanding Tub
Comments (12)Thanks again so much for sharing your ideas! Your points gave me a bunch of inspiration last night. I might not yet have it exactly right and I'll, of course, work more with our contractor and get a designer review, but I'm so much more excited and happy about having some new prospects. This is an "unplanned" master bath redo b/c of plumbing and structural problems - on top of a bunch of other never-ending projects - so it was kind of rushed and I knew I wasn't happy with keeping it mostly the same but I didn't have a good vision of what else was possible. Here's what I'm off to investigate now:Losing the linen closet/tower and splitting the vanities and gaining pretty much a full size shower made me so happy! I couldn't stand those sinks being so close together with our 60" vanity and all this $$$ for the remodel was killing me if I was going to end up still with a tiny shower. Our quotes for a new vanity/linen tower were so high, too, that I may end up not really spending much more overall to get what works so much better for us....See MoreHelp pick up Freestanding tub location
Comments (32)Yes the tiles in the shower are cut for appropriate slope. I used a schluter shower tray and just made a line from every corner of the drain to the corner of the shower area. There won’t be a shower door, rather a glass partition 24”out from the wall. You can see a metal C channel were the glass panel will rest. And we considered running basketweave on the shower and tub as mentioned. And running a grey marble pencil border for transition. Border would be flush to the floor and it would start from where the glass partition C channel would end. But, I’m concerned the basketweave marble may stained. If you google marble shower floor stained you see that 99% of the time it happens to small marble tiles that are usually on mesh. I purposely left a couple of these 12x24 tiles on buckets filled half way with water for days to see if they would stain as a kinda not very scientific experiment but nothing happen. I was unable to do the same with the basketweave as the mesh /glue got loose and all the pieces fell to the bottom. Our prior bathroom was also marble and the shower floor inlay did stained in some parts as well where as the rest of the shower floor (also 12x24 marble tile) was fine. The Grout though! Jeez. Never doing white again!...See MoreJean
