Comments (36)Melanie1121 - the website for Oceanside tiles is http://www.glasstile.com/ If you have an Expo design Center - they may carry the tiles. I was pleasantly surprised that they have them where I am and you may be able to catch a 10%, 15% or rare but possibly a 20% off sale. If you have to go to a tile showroom - see if your KD, tile installer, or designer has one they send people to. At least for me - the price off the street was 30% more than Expo and if I had come to them via a vendor, the vendor would have had a discount that hopefully would have been extended to me. I was very lucky to get a price match. I think the only place I could find that had it was Expo and the distributor/showroom listed on the website. Thanks for all the kind words - still loving the kitchen - But did I say I was 100% done, actually I still need to get organizers for the cabinets. So I guess it is really 99.5% done :) Well I had that done feeling for maybe a week....See MoreHelp finalize YELLOW color placement for my kitchen Today
Comments (124)I may be reading into your 'gut,' because I think it agrees with what I like ;-)... But the one with the white/stainless fridge and yellow oven/pantry really speaks to me. I thought having both tall cabs in white somehow chopped up the kitchen and diminished how the yellow grounded the room. And I didn't like them both trying to be matched in either color, because then they connected and took over the room. The oven cabinet looks somehow warmer and homier in color. It creates more of a natural-feeling unfittedness. The oven cab seemed too sterile and modern in the white, and as I said, the yellow bases flow better with it the same color. I know my input is just an opinion, and on just a drawing to boot. It seems you know what you want in your gut, but are 2nd guessing and wanting some kind of sure encouragement. But it's your kitchen, and we'll all have our own preferences. Your choices prove your good eye. I thought I grew past yellow ...used to love its sunny disposition in my bedroom as a teen, but it usually seems too baby shower to me now. So when I just started this thread, I thought "Too much yellow!" But as I read and saw more pics of your choices and how it's all coming together, I really love it all, and am excited to see it finished!! I think a lot of people want to use it and fight against it, at the same time, and you are just "all in." The layering of the yellows work like the white-on-white that's been popular recently, but with a braver twist. I think the 'mistake' with your wall color was a good one. ;-)...See MoreHelp with final kitchen choices!
Comments (9)@cpartist I do find that I like the look of the gray a lot too. Hoping the trend sticks around for awhile. I'm guessing in 7 years the trend will be gone as it's already being done all over. Once you see every one, including the big box stores offering something, it means it's starting its downward trend. If you want to see what will be trendy in 7 years, look to what high end designers are doing right now. Now having said that, 8 years ago, I put tan walls with cherry wood cabinets in. That was at the beginning of the white cabinet trend. Wood was trending downwards. I sold the condo in 2106 and had no problem with selling it because the kitchen related to the rest of the condo and looked fresh. What I'm trying to say is if you absolutely love grays, then absolutely go with grays. Just make sure the cabinets and style work with the rest of your home and you'll be fine. Don't put traditional cabinets in a contemporary house, or modern cabinets in a traditional house....See MoreHelp! DELAY AFTER DELAY on Lowe's kitchen - Final payment due on CC!
Comments (10)Well, here we sit again....cabinets delayed another week. Have e-mailed Lowe's store manager on 2 weeks ago, again 3 days later re-forwarded the e-mail saying I thought he may have missed it over the 4th holiday and then again one week ago. ZERO RESPONSE. Z-E-R-O! Can't believe how unprofessional this is! I get it people are busy but to just not respond to a customer who has spent $30,000 in your store! And my contract said all work would be done by early April! It is now mid-July and this part of the installation MAYBE will be complete next week, then after countertops are installed (another company) there has to be more measuring for some decorative panels that they suggested we don't measure for until after countertops are in. After a call to Lowe's corporate in which they "escalate" the situation and said the store manager will get this "Urgent Customer Care" email and he must respond within 24 hours....still NO response! UNBELIEVABLE! So have put in another call to Customer Service and now they escalate to the District Manager and I am supposed to hear from him within 24 hours. And by the way, Lowe's Credit Card (Synchrony) said that it just takes a call from a Store Manager and they can push this final payment out and extend the promo (6 months same as cash) on out beyond the original 6 months. I have pretty much done EVERYTHING else myself since I placed the order with no communication from their "install manager" or kitchen designer. I communicate with the installer directly now since the install manager also can't seem to return a phone call or place or follow up on the incorrect orders that keep getting placed. I communicate directly with Schuler (their Customer Service has been phenomenal!) to correct orders that are placed incorrectly---even after going over it several times and putting it in e-mails. Cabinets ordered the wrong size by and inch (at least 5 times), finished ends ordered on the wrong side of the cabinet, etc. Hopefully there is a district manager who can straighten this out and get these people to get this project finished!...See Moreanna_682
