Need HONEST opinion on turquoise/teal stools
Comments (53)Why don't you try painting one of the chairs you have to see what you like? You could try painting one chair with this coloration in mind. Except do the chair in red and leave the seat color you have. I tried for some visuals here to explain what I meant in a previous post above. I know others have mentioned black or stainless but to me it would just be adding another color to the mix. The picture below is nothing like your kitchen but it does have red stools next to a red island. If the kitchen was like yours and had teal/turquoise accents in the back ground one could get away with a teal seat color weather it be the same as yours or a bit darker. I think you can also get a basic idea on how black or stainless stools would not look right in the mix and could just look cluttered. If you paint one chair as suggested above and like the colors but not the chair there are a few other stool companies who do red. Bago Luma is one off the top of my head (although pricey). They have a few styles besides this plus different seat cover picks but I wanted to show the red. Or, this......See MoreExterior help, shutters and front door color?
Comments (6)We did something similar recently. Our house is also cream. Unless you're going to install a different size or style of shutters, Instead of replacing them, just have them painted. It's less expensive and you'll end up with the same results. We went with a dark teal on the shutters and love it! Then for the door, depending on the what you like, you could do red, gray, a fun apple green or a lighter shade of the teal. They were hunter green before. This is the shade we chose but I've included some other options below. My husband wouldn't agree to painting the door, but this was my inspiration for it. I love the way it looks....See MorePleeeeeaase help with exterior, front door color
Comments (8)I'd check with the door manufacturer or supplier and ask about painting the door frame before you give up that idea. I kept looking at the awnings thinking 'They're not yellow', and then saw that the supports are, where I thought they were just unpainted wood. This is just my opinion, but I wouldn't have painted them bright yellow - I'd have done them in white or black. I Googled to see if this is a common way to do awning supports and didn't find any. Window awnings But if you love them - that is absolutely the way they should be!...See MoreNeed colors for front brick, front door and awning & any other ideas?
Comments (9)Is that real brick? It almost looks like some kind of panel made to resemble brick. If it is real, often they just did a thin veneer of brick on only a portion of the house to save money (as if we'll never see the house from the sides? what were they thinking?) Either way they can be removed/ replaced with more harmonious / congruous siding.... whenever it comes time to paint, not right now. If you do a pergola or new porch, keep it simple and in harmony with modest post WW2 1950s style. Your house is not the early 1900s or craftsman-esque style pictured above, and houses start looking like frankenstein houses when they have too many styles from different eras cobbled together. You should find that a lot of contemporary style will mesh quite nicely with your house - since it draws so heavily from that era. The conventional wisdom is to live in the house for a year before doing anything irreversible, but I dont that applies to tacked-on temporary things like awnings and such. Have fun!...See MoreElaine Doremus Resumes Written
