Wide Living Room Dilemma
Comments (5)you don't have to push the sofa against the bannister. bring it out a foot or so like this, so it's not right on top of it. you have the room. on the large wall you can do something like this (these are Ikea hack ideas) with or without the tv and if it still bothers you, bring in a higher bannister. Something like this w/glass put the sofa over by the windows and do the console/play cabinets over on the wall. (or, enclose the bannister area but raise it w/this so you still get light) another option is to do something longer against the banniset and leave sofa where it is (ignore the TV) for the window, do some type of built in bench w/storage (doesn't even have to be the size of all three windows. you could do just the middle one if you like)...See MoreLiving room dilemma
Comments (8)@Sara Nicole I like your last rendition much better! Keeps the dining area close to kitchen - better flow for serving clearing etc. Is the door to left of entry a bedroom? I would float couch closer to the chairs giving it more distance from entry. This would also give you room to add a table in space between entry door & corner for coat rack, or table etc to define entry. Floating more lenght of couch back into the open space past wall also gives the opportunity to place a narrow console talble behind couch to set a lamp on, place a tall floor plant etc & further separate the dining area from seating. If you don’t have furniture yet, you’ll need to choose wisely with all room measurements in hand! ETA not sure about chaise - that’s the very last thing I’d purchase after the sofa & really comfy chairs!...See Moretiny living room dilemma
Comments (30)Hello Cory, Here is the rendition. Yes, it is pretty much what you already have with a few adjustments. Such as pulling the one section of the couch and putting it in the (now) short side to make the couch longer on the wall with the front door and picture window. You mentioned doing that earlier in your notes to us. Also, in the rendition is a TV console with an electric fireplace (just for fun) but any TV console would work. Over by the front door and closet wall; the large mirror is hung and an entry table the same length as the mirror can be seen. Some art was added along with some wall sconces that hold candles or perhaps some other wall art could go up. So here are the pictures for your viewing pleasure and consideration....See Moreformal living room dilemma
Comments (40)Perhaps you can put the chairs as a pair on the big window wall, add a lounge chair opposite the corner walls between the sofa and the pair of chairs. Either keep the matching end tables and get a new cocktail table, or keep the cocktail table and get different matching or non matching end tables. The sofa is so pretty, I would not use any throw pillows, and just put narrow wide pillows, one on each chair. Introduce a color in the lounge chair, add a floor lamp for it and a pretty Chinese stool as an end table for the lounge chair. Simple curtains, with a possible color border on edges and hem that relates to a color in the lounge chair. Just some thoughts. Change out your lamps to a color lamp, either solid or small pattern in a color and white....See Morefreedomplace1
