Do the sofas have to stay? They just seem too dark and clunky for the space.

Why the choice of wood poles? That will be heavy and dark. Your furniture is all shoved in a corner. My first instinct is to pull it out if possible. Your photos are very limiting. You need to stand to the right of your slider and take one facing into the room so we can see all sides of the space before we can really give you sound advice.

I agree the sofas are awfully dark. If replacing is an option, then a lighter neutral would be nice. If not, I’d change the ottoman to a solid color, and add a light colored throw and some pillows in blues and neutrals to the sofas. The ottoman could be covered in a color from the art over the sofa. The lamp should be more contemporary, too.

Part of the reason the room looks "off" and bland is that the undertones don't blend. In the photos the wall color looks very gray and cool. Most of the things in the rest of the space look like they have warmer undertones.

Instead of adding color, you need to spread to cool gray around the room. I would try to find sofa pillows with blue, gray, and tan to help tie the colors together. A cool toned lampshade would help as well.

As an example, look at your dining room. You used cool gray chairs and that space looks homier and put together.

The traffic pattern in this house forces everything to the left! I went with dark poles because of the bronze windows. Not to late to change that. I can easily update the lamp! Thank you! Keep it coming!

Outdoor rugs are mostly made of polypropylene and polyester, which makes them kid and pet-friendly, making them easier to clean than standard rugs. Perhaps, this outdoor area rug could work in your space?:

I also noticed that you don't have pillows in your sofas. One way to add color to any space is thru decor. Adding pillows are a great way to start! Maybe you could consider this arrangement I quickly edited (I think they'll fit in nicely to your living area!):

Start with rearranging your furniture. Move the loveseat perpendicular to the entry, or sofa if it fits. Separate the tv console from the hutch.

Unfortunately that is the only place for the tv. I love the hutch and no other place for it. Not ready to part with that. What else can I do with that wall?

I would add a bright colored rug and some floor lamps that will up the wow factor.

I like that rug but it looks like too much beige on the white tile floor. Worried that the rug will look dirty next to it.

Since the sofas are much lighter in real life than they appear in the photos online, we must be looking at shadows. Not sure if this would help, but could you post photos taken while standing on the other side of the room?

Hopefully this will help. The shag rug I have has a dirty gray look. That’s what I really want to replace. Can’t change out the sofas yet.

Not sure having beige in the rug would be a problem. Your lovely art work has lots of beige.

I have this Ruggable (a washable rug) in my foyer and love it! You did say you wanted to add color, and a wow factor, so I suggest you add more color besides blue. I don’t know if the background blue color of this rug is light enough to provide contrast with your medium dark sofas, though.

The rug I posted is not quite as dark as it appears online.
