Aloe Vera- Browning of tips- General help needed!!!
Comments (8)Remove the plant and give it fresh soil and pot. It needs far more sun, it comes from, they believe from Northern Africa. (those who studied this species) I live in a hot arid inland valley , I grow mine in the sun. Don't move the locatiion quickly or you will burn the plant. Don't let the tips touch the glass windows. I notice that you are from Scotland. For sure the poor plant will need more sun. The leaves should be stiff and growning upright, and not spread out. L.E. Newton thinks it came from Arabia it is widely cultivated in Mediterranean areas (since ancient times)Also found growing in India and the West Indies. This information was copied right out of a book. What I'm getting at is that is loves the heat, and good sun. Make sure it is growing in at least a gallon size container, with good fast draining mix. Remember to fertilize, give fresh air to breath, it will need good air circulation. The dry tips could be caused by a drying out of the soil, too much water, to much artifical heat. So many things come into play. Many species naturally grow with dry tips. Sansevieria come to mind. Norma...See MoreDone trying to figure it out..need general layout help
Comments (6)First, is the orientation of the sketch turned 90 degrees to the left from the picture of the space in the very first picture of this thread? Now other questions: Is the kitchen itself planned for the top section in the sketch/right section in the first picture? Is the addition the part with all the walls torn out in the first pictures (left section in the sketch)? If yes to the above two questions, does that mean the doors/windows are not being replaced in the kitchen area? If the above three questions :-) are "yes", what are the dimensions of each window/doorway/wall and the distances b/w each window/doorway/wall? You just have windows (W) & doorways (D) drawn in w/o dimensions of any kind for them and the walls around them. Is anything planned for the large space on the right and below the top section in the sketch? I'm sorry, but I think we need more information. Not only related to the questions above, but also other questions about how you plan to use the entire space, etc. Unfortunately, "general" ideas are often not very useful w/o all this information b/c when ideas are just thrown out there's no way to tell if they'll actually work in the space! The best way to do this is to get a detailed layout, post it here with other information (more on that in a moment), and have us work it through with you. I think you'll be much happier with the results in the end! Have you had a chance to read the "Layout Help" topic in the "Read Me" thread? It describes what information we need to help you find the best design for you and your family. (Once in the "Read Me" thread, scroll down to the "Layout Help" topic.) Good luck! Comments (2)You can use something like this splitter: http://www.amazon.com/Conntek-YL1430520-Generator-Adapter-Connentor/product-reviews/B002MGJ2F4 Note that it still has only two 15/20 amp receptacles for a max of 40 amps at 120V. A 6600 watt gen will provide 55 amps at 120VAC. You will need to balance the load and you can only get 20 amps from each with that splitter. If you want your full power out, you can get it with a splitter for 30 amp receptacles, which is hard to find and inconvenient. Or you can draw a bit more power from one of the other 120V receptacles on the gen, but not more than 27.5 amps total from either winding, so you need to find out how the other windings are connected to the 120V receptacles....See MoreRECESSED general verses task, need help
Comments (1)I have recessed lighting only in my entry, but it seems quite bright. It is, however, using CFL not LED bulbs so I can't speak to how well they perform. Perhaps my answer will bump up your question for others to answer. If you prefer a regular ceiling fixture then that should be the end of the discussion. The same goes for having a ceiling fan with light. It's your house....See More- 3 years ago
