Hi. I did something like this in my house. I have a split level. I put Biscayne Oak from Coretec down next to oak stairs. The vinyl extends out down the hallway and into a bathroom and family room. This whole level of the house is the same. It looked the best color wise next to the oak stairs. I put the vinyl over where the tile is as there are 2 layers of tile and demo for that was costly. I am thinking to do the same floor in the upstairs hallway and kitchen, which again is all hardwood floors same color as the stairs. I am nervous to do this in the kitchen and upstairs hallway, but the bathrooms all have the coretech vinyl floor because again 2 layers of tile, and cost. I dont think it looks bad with what you want to do. I will say this, cleaning these coretec floors is heaven :) so easy

ok,,,it's like pulling teeth here. you want the help, yes? then post pictures of the rooms, the wood and tile. otherwise, just lay them how you think looks best because we have no idea what anything looks like.

We are planning to replace flooring throughout our house as well, 2900 sq ft. We currently have 20yo tile and carpet that our new dog has had accidents on. We are trying to budget and also debating btwn hardwood, porcelain wood look plank tiles , or engineered vinyl luxury plank. Any thoughts on Engineered vinyl. I’ve read feels/looks most like wood, is waterproof (rather than water resistant) , doesn’t dent from weight of furniture is pet friendly, and cost less than real wood and tile. My preference is tile due to pets and water , but most likely cost prohibitive due to labor intensive/cost. Hardwood not pet friendly or moisture friendly in kitchen , guest bath. We have a very open floorplan where we cannot separate flooring from kitchen and bath. BUT i’ve also read that you do not get ROI on vinyl flooring, even though a designer told me she is installing Luxury vinyl in multi-million $ homes these days (I am in S. California) Any advice appreciated

I don’t agree that LVP is not a good choice for basements. We used it because we have a walk out that goes to a free access dog run with 3 big dogs and the other entry is to the pool so lots of traffic with wet feet, muddy feet and at the end of the day a quick mop and it looks like new 12 yrs later . Hardwood would have by now looked like garbage from dog nails and water left sitting. IMO you choose flooring to stand up to your lifestyle not because some imaginary buyer will like it better. We have always had floors that are not real wood because we will always have big dogs and no matter how careful you are they can do some real damage to wood floors.
