Yea, I think I'm going to have to wait till I actually get the Travertine in to see what it looks like, they didn't have a sample of it at the design center. I'm leaning towards a Perla Light Quartzite, hoping that there will be more grey/silver (and some beige) in the backsplash. I'll find out in a few weeks probably.

my3dogs - Thx for your input! Love your quartzite. I think that's great you are reusing your sink! No need to buy something else if you like your current one & it's in good shape. I was ready to get the $300 Ikea drop-in farm sink, but my DH really wants an undermount, so I caved...but I can live with either. Thx for the Ebay links. They don't have the 6488 model I want (except for local pick-up in NY); I'll keep checking though. I called Kohler today about getting sample chips; they are backordered on sea salt and cashmere. Both very popular (cashmere the #1 seller at the Fergusons in my area). I'm going to make another round of showroom visits with my cabinet door & photos (don't have a sample of the Sea Pearl but will ask the fabricator again). I can look at the sample chips at the showroom. I did like the dune color online; I will see what that one looks like. BirchPoint - Thank you! You raised the same concerns I have about the cashmere. It is lovely on its own, but not sure in combination with the other elements in my kitchen. My DH agrees with you; the sink will be here for many years, and the extra money will be worth it if it's "the one" for our kitchen. lmgch - Good to know! The fact that you selected the sea salt Whitehaven with Sea Pearl raises my comfort level with that color. It is lovely, and I like the tiny speckles in it. The "sea" in both the quartzite and sink color names may be a sign. :) Thx!

lmgch - I remember your kitchen; so beautiful! Your backsplash is lovely. I recall it's from Porcelanosa, correct? I considered getting a sample when you posted your reveal, but we have no Porcelanosa dealers in my state. I do like that there is a pattern in yours; it adds a nice touch. herbflavor - I understand what you're saying. Agree that we need something that pulls it all together. My concern about mosaics is that they are trendy (of course, the same could be said about white subways with gray grout). eam44 - I loved the Fireclay Hydrangea immediately. My search actually began with glass and glass mosaics. The Sea Pearl evokes feelings of coastal, so I thought glass might work. I almost went with the green glass mosaic below, then thought glass in general would be too trendy. I want something unique (I know...subways are not!) that is neutral enough to not steal the show from the Sea Pearl. I had ruled these out (marble - too bathroomy?, glass - too trendy?)...maybe I should revisit. So unsure!!

When I compared Calacatta vs Sea Pearl a few years ago, most SPs did appear green; the Calacatta's gray seemed a more pure gray. If you like the linear quality of SP and like the C's gray (this might be what dan1888 is referring to), find samples of Macaubus White, which is the crosscut version of Calacatta. ETA: If possible, take samples home and view with/under YOUR lighting. From my experience, warehouse lighting was much different from my actual kitchen lighting.
