sea pearl quartzite
Comments (65)Yea, I think I'm going to have to wait till I actually get the Travertine in to see what it looks like, they didn't have a sample of it at the design center. I'm leaning towards a Perla Light Quartzite, hoping that there will be more grey/silver (and some beige) in the backsplash. I'll find out in a few weeks probably....See MoreWhat Color Sink with Sea Pearl Quartzite?
Comments (13)my3dogs - Thx for your input! Love your quartzite. I think that's great you are reusing your sink! No need to buy something else if you like your current one & it's in good shape. I was ready to get the $300 Ikea drop-in farm sink, but my DH really wants an undermount, so I caved...but I can live with either. Thx for the Ebay links. They don't have the 6488 model I want (except for local pick-up in NY); I'll keep checking though. I called Kohler today about getting sample chips; they are backordered on sea salt and cashmere. Both very popular (cashmere the #1 seller at the Fergusons in my area). I'm going to make another round of showroom visits with my cabinet door & photos (don't have a sample of the Sea Pearl but will ask the fabricator again). I can look at the sample chips at the showroom. I did like the dune color online; I will see what that one looks like. BirchPoint - Thank you! You raised the same concerns I have about the cashmere. It is lovely on its own, but not sure in combination with the other elements in my kitchen. My DH agrees with you; the sink will be here for many years, and the extra money will be worth it if it's "the one" for our kitchen. lmgch - Good to know! The fact that you selected the sea salt Whitehaven with Sea Pearl raises my comfort level with that color. It is lovely, and I like the tiny speckles in it. The "sea" in both the quartzite and sink color names may be a sign. :) Thx!...See MoreWhite Macaubus and Sea Pearl quartzite
Comments (5)Don't judge it in broad daylight. Will look different inside your home. I know someone with white macaubus counters and they have a definite bluish/grayish cast to them. But the overall feel in their space is light and bright. It's on a gray island next to perimeter cabs painted white with dark counters. All the sea pearl I saw when I was looking had a greenish cast to it. They were all indoors if that matters. They are both gorgeous stones but I think the white macaubus goes a bit better with your tile choices according to what I'm seeing in your photo....See MoreOT but just got our sea pearl quartzite remnants installed outside!
Comments (14)Rocks are perfectly fine outdoors but they do weather in time and the colors become muted. Yes, that does happen in stone yards too. Our remnant piece had "shadows" where another rock was stored on top of it for a few years. This is why geologists break rocks with a hammer to examine them. A fresh, unweathered surface reveals the truest view of the stone. That, plus it's fun to hit things with hammers....See Morecyc2001
