Stop watering them for starters, why are you watering them?

Pls excuse me, but do you understand that what makes succulents succulent is their ability to hold water in their fat, fleshy, leaves? They have almost all the water they need already.

Think abt it, in nature, no one comes along to mist them. If they get rained on, great, if not, not, they sink or swim on their own.

Tho' I'm not one of them, there are some knowledgeable folks here who do mist their propagations, but I'd expect they'd say every 3 or 4 days if one must mist, certainly not daily, which risks rotting them because it's more moisture than the plant can handle.

What these guys need to root is benign neglect, once you put them on the mix, pls leave them alone. Don't lift 'em up to check as that disrupts the rooting process.

A week is nothing in plant time; sorry, they're on their schedule, not yours. Patience is what's required here, ball park guess, a month at least.

The surest sign that something has rooted, is the appearance of new growth. Then one can water, otherwise since they have no roots, they can't take up water, so pls don't water 'til then. Also for next time, your mix needs more Perlite than what's there.

Perhaps if you show pix of your other ailing plants, folks can suggest how to help them.

You could try adding something dry on top like perlite, sand or gravel, and push the pieces in a little.

Sorry to disagree, but pls don't. That will NOT help & sand will likely make this worse. They do not need not be covered.

Many of us have experienced a leaf or 2 falling behind other plants, only to be found a month or 2 later, w/ young leaflets on it & some roots too, all while sitting BARE on a ledge or shelf.

I have rooted many leaves of different succulents. Vast majority grew both roots and plantlets. Personally, I do not spray or mist - some ppl do and with success. So I think you should try both ways to find out what works for you.

I use whatever mix I have, and used mix with more soil. BUT most often, I just use very gritty mix that I use for potting succulents. Sometimes, I stick leaves in a mix, but not deep at all. End of leaf touching the mix is enough. Often, I just lay leaves on top of mix similarly to what you showing. Once roots start growing, they find their way into mix. I often grow few in same container - it always has a drainage hole:

It really doesn't matter. Often, leaves fall somewhere and suddenly, there are new plants - hitchhikers - growing without me planning any of it, often with different plants:

Some will start growing fast, many take bit longer. While I had leaves sprouting within days, more often it takes 1-2 weeks or even longer.

I do not use sand at all for any succulents. Most available sand is very fine, and packs well. That is good for building sand castles, but not so much for growing succulents. If you have coarse sand, that is ok to use. IMO, it shouldn't pass thru kitchen sieve, or it is too fine.

None of the leaves in above photos were misted at all. I wait for quite a while before I start watering, usually about 2 weeks or even longer. (You said you water every morning - I am thinking that to be too much. And I wonder if your container has drainage holes? IMO, that frequent watering + soil + no drainage keeps them too wet, and they could rot.) This is just the way I do it, and with high success. I would say rate of success is minimum 90%, most likely higher. That doesn't mean there isn't another way - but I find this way very easy.

Above all, do not sweat over it. More you "ignore" them, easier they grow. Do you know saying: ...watched pot never boils...? It applies here very well! :)

I always stick the end of the leaf into the coarse mix (pumice based) and lightly water once a week or so. Perhaps this is what J Williams meant? Works well enough not to have changed this method for over 2 decades. Just another option that people have found works for them.

The longest I have had to wait until a shoot appears is over a year with an Adromishus. The two leaves rooted quickly but a fat leaf was all I saw until over a year later when they both put up shoots.

I rooted few leaves of Adromischus maculatus - one took almost 3 months, and 3 more planted at same time took about 6 mo! They were all of same size, from same plant, started in same pot so received same light+water. 1 didn't make it. Here is the first plant now, and another 2 in comparison. Quite a difference in size - I do not know why:

Adromischus cristatus leaf just starting to grow little plant after almost 2 mo, and I hope it will continue. I tried 2 or 3 leaves of this plant before, but they didn't work. OTOH, 2 leaves of Sedum hernandenzii took about 10 or 11 months to show any sign of life - they are growing, but very slowly. Here is the 'bigger' one, after about 3 yrs of growing - just 1.25" tall, but grew an offset recently. Very slow grower...:

Yeah, mine was A. cristatus.

When someone says You can try pushing a plant piece into the soil a little and someone responds with with omg don’t smother/bury it, yes, I would say that’s being hyperbolic. Glad some people can measure their responses better but I don’t need the stress.
