Confusing layout? Or not?

Just bought this 1,870sqft house. Pics are from real estate listing. We don't have possession yet, trying to figure out layout for us- young 60 year olds. The oak floors were just redone, sanded with a semigloss-dull clearcoat

PICTURE #1
The entrance room is used as the diningroom, we think it should be the livingroom. Like to update/modernize the house without Reno
-should we place the couch back to the side entrance door, to create an
entrance feeling so we can't see the shoes etc.
-change the goldish/brassy ceiling and wall sconce lighting to ?? Brushed
steel, pewter, dark oiled???
-how about dark grey/charcoal couch and 2 chairs
-should we put something above the mirrored closet doors or nothing?
-not sure if tv goes here, probably familyroom

PICTURE #2
The pony wall is the basement entrance. Here you can see the brassy wall sconce which will be our livingroom
-I think our dark wood dining table should be where you see the far blue
2 chairs, under the flower pictures, 2 skylights & light. Might have to move,
chain over or replace the ceiling light to be above the table? Not sure

PICTURE #3 & 4
-Kitchen, dining, familyroom. The light blue chairs is where I think the dining
table should be & you get a better idea of the ceiling light placement-might
be ok
-replace appliances with stainless steel
-replace countertops with Quartz

PICTURE #5
Familyroom with double patio door & yes another corner gas fireplace
-paint out brass section of the fireplace with flat black heat resistant
-hmmm, tile the fireplace with ??? Grey stone.
-close fireplace alcove, too high for tv
-what furniture, couch, loveseat, chairs????

What layout would you do. We have no small kids, a visiting 7 year old grandson. Like to entertain friends.

Any, all suggestions appreciated.
