I have white roller shades in my 3 bedrooms with white sheers on them. I am not fond of darker shades but I like clean and airy looks for the windows.

Thanks for your replies. I would say I'm going for "cozy." While this is a traditional "front room," I don't see it as formal; more of a place for conversation, reading or (at the moment) working. I appreciate the bamboo examples; we may go that route. And definitely light-filtering. We generally have the blinds up during the day and enjoy the natural light.

Unfortunately as I began shopping I realized that most roller shades will not fit our 5/8th depth window. I will search other threads or start a new one. It looks like I may need to go with cellular shades or a basic roller to stay with an inside mount, which I would prefer.

I really dislike bamboo shades they never look good to me. I am wondering why roller shades at all? I would like to see the whole space too. If light control is the main reason then go solar shades you get the control but keep the view then I would do drapes for nighttime privacy , the shades will give you daytime privacy.

Yes, please show us the whole space. I actually really like bamboo too - they bring in some nice texture and look great layered with a drape. There are many styles of bamboo that are a bit more sophisticated. We bought ours from Select blinds: we got cordless ones with a privacy liner. Without the liner, you can see in very easily when lights are on at night inside.

I love the bamboo as well - The texture they add is wonderful. I can not do inside mount either and went with outside. It doesn't bother me at all. Funny how everyone's taste is different. I really dislike cellular shades. They just look cheap to me.

You cannot go with roller shades unless you install them outside mount on top of your trim. But then you will cover all the trim. Your best option are narrow depth bottom up top down honeycomb shades that install to a window trim as shallow as 1/2 inch. They are available in 170 fabrics and I am sure you will find the perfect one for each room

I have roller shades, inside mount in all of my rooms and love them. I have yellow ones in the room with yellow walls and sheers. In other other rooms, I have white roller shades. These windows are on the south and on the north.

Still waffling on this project, but I am leaning toward bamboo with an outside mount. @Design Girl do you have any photos you can share or specifics on which blinds you chose?

Option 2 are Levelor cellular shades that can be inside mounted - though the headrail would protrude. I would add decorative curtain panels to cover the ends.

Window trim is Benjamin Moore White Dove and walls are Wythe blue (dining room where one shade would go) and Candle Glow (living room where three shades would go).

Looking to achieve a warm welcoming vibe.

@michiganmama - Here is a picture of a bamboo outside mount shade in my powder room. I got this from the woman who does all my curtains and window treatments. I've seen some nice looking ones at Blinds to Go, but can't find it on the site at the moment.
