Comments (10)Here are examples of rooms that have windows with black frames. Note the trim around the windows is white. My recommendation is that you select either white or dark charcoal gray. I would not select a wood tone because it's likely that the stain would not match for your flooring finish. If you consider a color other than white,maybe consider a color slightly less than full black. Comments (11)I like them white. I owned a house with these old 5 panel doors and they were all painted white. I really liked the look. It was clean, classic and simple. The paint allowed the doors to show themselves without the dark colour being the overwhelming statement about them. Comments (11)I love my artwork and always want that to be the focus when people come into my home. I don't want my windows and doors to be the main attraction, so I keep the contrast lower. When I did white walls, I matched the trim, ceiling and doors to the walls, using different sheens to give the illusion of different colors. That said, I have also seen amazing results by adding color to trim and ceilings. Haven't looked specifically at adding interest by changing door colors, but it would be a similar idea. I think black or a dark gray will be too much contrast and look stark and whatever you paint has to work with the art and décor throughout the home.
