Exhibit A in the importance of a good walkway. Nicely done. After many, many years on GW (I don't post here very often), I've realized that the correct answer to 9 out of 10 landscaping questions is not a plant list, it's advice to widen and rethink the walkway. I know it's what needs to happen at the new/old house my husband and I purchased last year. The previous owners did many things right, including building a lovely deck and patio area, but they didn't do the walk while they were at it and it needs it. It's at the absolutely top of my hardscaping to-do list.

Our home was built in 1964. We bought it in 1991. Over 29 years we have remodeled and updated every room. The fireplace was last remanent of 1964. The red brick used to go up to the ceiling, but we had it brought down seven years ago. The room isn’t big and the brick dominated the room. We had a gas insert installed 14 years ago, but over time the ceramic logs and brick surround started to disintegrate. Rather than replace them, we opted to get a new, more modern insert. I see now. You have two threads going on the same topic. The ”after” pics in the second thread show a definite refresh. But, still no vent hood over the gas range?
