What are you reading in June 2020?
Comments (89)I am reading The Dressmaker's Gift by Fiona Valpy, loaned to me by my daughter because she liked it so much. It is a present day/Paris during the Nazi occupation story of a young English woman whose mother died young and who never knew her grandmother. She discovered that her grandmother had worked in a high-fashion house during the war. She is herself interested in fashion and has obtained a job in that same firm and has met another young woman working there whose grandmother worked with her own. So far, it is a pretty predictable but good story of young love, the resistance, and the dreadful Nazis....See MoreVeggie Tales - June 2020
Comments (472)I picked maybe a cup of blueberries today. And almost a full plastic colander of shelling June peas. Think this is the peak of the pea season here in my garden. Seems kinda late to me. We used to call them June peas, my reason for referring to the local name. It's July, almost and I still have flowers. I want to get pole haricot vert beans in that row! Anyway, I shelled and froze a good quart after some for dinner. I direct seeded a patch of broccoli in the ground. I did that this spring with cabbage and it worked fine. I still have a few crowded groups of cabbage seedlings after taking what I needed out. Kevin - wonderful crops as usual. That bread looks great. Can we find that closer to home? I made an order to the link today. Four sports of red delicious, the really old ones. I want to find out if the old varieties lived up to the name. If I have the time!...See MoreWhat's blooming today June 11, 2020 - Jasmina, others
Comments (5)Should say Queen of Elegance....can't believe I typed that....too many senior moments lately! Vapor - Jasmina has never had much cane, seems like if she puts out a new one an old one dies back. But I've been tying and propping all my roses over and over all winter and spring. A lot of high winds but also a lot of growth because of no winter dieback. I can't remember about the cleaning but will find out very soon! I have Laguna that needs deadheaded now and that takes a good day and a quart of blood....See MoreMy Hosta Garden in June 2020
