Comments (17)We have ours on a wood counter against a cabinet side and haven't had an issue with heat, but the plug is a PITA. I had intended to plug it in behind the oven, but the size of the plug made this completely infeasible. (We tried it every which way, too, with power strips and the like...no dice!) So instead it's draped across the counter---not exactly ideal, but in the end it was workable. Had we realized this in advance, I would have looked at recessing the outlet or otherwise doing something creative with it...ah well. We have several Breville appliances, and while I love the performance on them all, they all have the same stupid plugs which are really difficult to put anything in front of. Also, on the toasting front---not sure this will help on the large oven, but on the compact oven, the difference between toasting on the lowest oven rack position and toasting on the middle "toast" position is night and day. Toast on the middle setting is browned nicely in a few minutes, whereas on the low setting where we generally leave the rack for baking, it's painfully slow and browns the sides unevenly. So...even though it's a pain, I've gotten into the habit of moving the rack before toasting, and it's solved that problem. Comments (20)you may not know but this pipe lining ws started over in europe the last 3 decades maybe 4? their infrustucture is way older than ours. where I am, it is all slab homes (no basements) mostly 1970's and 80ty's were made of cast iron. PVC started to make it way into the mainstream after that. These pipes are rotting away! when I say rotting I mean the base is gone.fractures are 1/2 inch and wider that are all over the place.sides,bottom, top, in lentghs that are in feet. Now you also have water lines in there.where? who knows. pipe bursting is not good because at every place a 2" or 4" pipe comes into the main line you have to dig up a section of floor to have a repair done et every interval. short of digging up the home and it had been done, pipe lining is the only real way to avoid a total rehab of the home. the co's that do this have a limited 50 year warranty on materials. it seals every joint,fracture all drains coming into the line and thats where they call reinstateting comes in. they have to open up all drains that where covered over by the material. so if europe started this,30 or 40 years ago and did all their streets (no digging up the streets all over europe) and I have not read anything bad happening I would not have any fears. like anything else,price and convience,where I am located sarasota fl this is the only way to fly! I am talking infustructure. if you had a cobblestone driveway the cost of lining would be cheaper than having someone come in to do the repair on top of the repair. also pipe pulling would in that case should be looked at too. Comments (7)I also agree.I majored in dressmaking and design in high school and have been sewing ever since,and that adds up to about 50 years.Wow didn't realize it was that long til i stopped to think about it!! DH bought me my first machine after the birth of our first son(1959) because i kept borrowing my sisters.We went on to have 2 more sons and a dd.I sewed for all of them.I sewed a lot of the boys clothing right up to high school days and of course all of dd's as well.Also sewed all my own clothes,things for the home,and when dh retired from the military i made him a few suits as well. I have taken a lot of classes over the years,free motion embroidery,smocking,quilting,etc to name a few.I still take classes from time to time.My motto is,"you're never too old to learn something new." Now i have a new Great GD that just 5 weeks old,so i have someone new to sew for and have already made her 2 quilts,burp pads,crib bumpers.Can't wait to start sewing her clothes,and believe it or not,i still have some of the patterns i used for my own kids all those years ago.Kids patterns never go out of fashion,and i like the older ones better than the newer one.JMO I learned on here recently how to make a foot stool from a plant stand/holder thingy and made one last week or so.I never would have thought of that idea.
