Did you or your grown kids play with toys when they were young?
Comments (20)Bumble, you might be my DD's biological mom LOL. Her (self imposed) goal this summer is to cook more "real meals." She already bakes a lot, with some supervision, and makes pancakes independently. Her real obsession these days is duct tape. She has made a variety of wallets, purses, etc. She usually makes at least one a day. She has probably 25 rolls of various colors and patterns at the moment. I honestly don't think I could make one of those wallets myself, and I'm fairly crafty...or used to be! She has her own glue gun. Tish, like you say, she's not a great speller or much of a reader but she can read complicated directions or a recipe and figure it out no problem, so she's all set!...See MoreHow did you pick your kid's names?
Comments (33)Well we thought we were being unique with the first one. But it seems that it's a name that's been used in the Celtic cultures for some time. I thought I was sticking a K in front of Ian..His dad picked his middle name. They have to be D's..his is and his first three children are as well. The second one was going to be an A name..but my husband's youngest brother was left sterile from Cancer treatments at the age of 18, so we took part of his name and used it. Again middle name was chosen by Daddy. The last one we decided since the other two had the same initials, might as well keep with the program..We didn't like or couldn't agree on K names, so we started looking at C names we could swap out. We decided on Cameron..but the spelling we chose as Kamren (boy) or Kamryn (girl) and then we gave our oldest a short list of D middle names and he picked Dylan/Dillon..we chose to go with Dillon. However had he been a girl the name still would have been the same, just different spelling. Kamryn Dylan. My husband thought the name was picked out for his oldest son prior to him leaving for USMC bootcamp..however one day he got called into the Gunny's office and was told congratulations you have a son, his "specs" are xyz and it appears he's a Jr. Hubby never wanted a junior. Oh well....See Morehow much real estate do your kids own in your home?
Comments (24)Fun, did you have more than one living space growing up? We had a formal living room and a family room so the family room is where our toys were kept. However, we didn't have nearly the same amount of toys as kids do nowadays! The way our family room was laid out, there was a corner where all the toys were kept. I shared an average size room with my sister, so we didn't have much room for playing in there. I'm sure we did a bit but for the most part, we were in the family room when we were young or outside. I also can't imagine having kids' toys in every room. That would drive me nuts! Most of the houses around here have basements or more than one living area so the basements store the bulk of the toys and then the family room, which is typically open to or next to the kitchen is where the main floor toys are stashed. Having four kids has relaxed my anal tendencies but I still go a little nuts with crap laying around. The peninsula in my kitchen becomes the drop zone but I can't stand having that clutter. And dh is the worst b/c he will leave his stuff there and never come back for it but then get annoyed if I move it or ask him to. He's used to clutter from his childhood. I used to have complete order in the house b/f I went to bed, but now I'm so exhausted by then that I have slacked off a bit and then get all stressed when I come downstairs the next morning to clutter and have to clean up b/f I can function. I'm like that with cooking too - I can't start cooking unless the counters are clear, no dirty dishes out, etc. DH looks at me like I have two heads. Am I the only weird one like that? Oops, sorry, I have a habit off going off on a tangent!...See MoreChoosing your kids? or your partner?
Comments (12)I agree, your boyfriend broke up for reasons other than his daughter. He's a coward to blame her. When my husband and I started seeing eachother we both had teenagers. The teenagers came first, for both of us. I would cancel plans I had with him if something came up with my children and I think that's the way it should be. They were here first and I'm their mom, they should be my priority. But there's a fine line between that and having a life of your own. We wouldn't have let any of our kids come between us to the point of ruining our relationship. Your boyfriend does not feel as strongly about the relationship as you do. I'm sorry to tell you this, but you should move on and you'll find someone even better the next time. Take care and I wish you all the best....See MoreKathsgrdn
