Help with a fridge and microwave to match o'keefe & merritt stove
Comments (17)DON'T get a french door ref. One side or the other would bang into the range - all the time and I can practically guarantee that both will end up damaged. Be careful of the way the ref is hinged. As shown in the photos, the ref should have handles on the left - hinges on the right, so the door opens away from the ref. The kitchen looks like it has a lot of potential. You might try grout paint rather than "whitener". The grout can be covered, but not bleached. The other benefit of grout paint is that the counter will be easy to clean because nothing will get stuck in the grout ever again. If I had just bought that house, I would spend the entire first year plotting against that counter and finding out how much it would be to replace it with various things. I'd likely put away the wrecking bar and other deconstruction tools someplace difficult to get at because it would serve as a barrier to DIY demolition. Comments (10)I bought a Zline 36" gas stove with electric oven, and have had it for over a month now. I've hosted a few dinner parties with it and can't say enough good things about it. Just this past weekend, I had a few friends over and used 5 out of the 6 burners at the same time, as well as the oven, without issue. I've made homemade bread in the oven several times now and it always come out great (highly recommend using a pizza stone with it). I don't have an extra oven thermometer, but just judging by how well it cooks, I'd say the temp is pretty accurate. I'm pretty jazzed about it and looking to replace my vent hood soon with a Zline hood as well, to match my oven. From what I read online, their oven parts are sourced from around the world. I can confirm the burner system they use is manufactured in Italy (says it underneath the burner) but the rest of it is made in China, I'm pretty sure. I was wary of that as well at first, but I'm over the moon with this purchase. Nearly half the cost of a Bosch, arrived within a week, and I've been using it nearly every day without issue. In more ways than one, this oven is so much better than the previous one that was in my house (even just the way it looks, alone, some of my friends thought I paid a lot more for it than I did). I sound like a fan boy right now, but I just feel like I definitely got my money's worth and wanted to share my experience....See MoreMatching stainless steel fridge - KitchenAid vs Bosch?
Comments (17)yeah, it's super important to see a fridge in real life so you can get a feel for it. our house came with a brand new samsung, and I hate it. no matter how you arrange the shelves, you can't even fit something as common as a basic brita pitcher. so now our door caddies are crammed and other tall things are inconveniently laid on their side. the deli drawer is weirdly flat. the giant veggie bins waste space (even for us-- we buy a lot of produce). the french doors have to be slammed shut. the freezer drawer doesn't pull all the way out unless you use brute force. I mean, you really have to violently rip it out or otherwise it only pulls out about a foot. ugh. these are all weird things that I didn't even know were a problem until we owned this fridge. Hopefully the design of a Bosch is much better than that!...See Morefridge to match zline black stainless
Comments (5)"Z line is abysmal performance and customer service." I needed replacement lights for my Z-Line and they are a b*tch to get hold of, then it took I don't know how long for them to even ship two lights - a couple weeks I think? I had to call on it because it was taking so long. That problem is solved with about $50 out of my own pocket because they thought 5000K hood lights is a good idea (it is not...) and I couldn't stand them, but what was never solved is the wrong size chimney was in the box -- it was too tall, and the box and instructions were clearly for a 8' ceiling. AAARGH!! Thank heavens I was eventually able to find a short chimney that is sized for 7-8' ceilings so solved the problem. I was too aggravated to call and raise a fuss that I paid for a chimney replacement when they are the fools who sized the original piece wrong. Yea -- that did cost me money but I just had to let it go already, I just got to the point I didn't want to deal with it anymore I just wanted it fixed so sucked it up and bought the thing myself.I like the look and function of the hood well enough, but yea it was a bit of an ordeal so don't know if I'd do Z-line again....See MoreRuth Robinson
