I have Ikea high gloss white cabinets in a south facing kitchen with a huge window the cabinets are now 13 yrs old and have no yellowed one bit I have an overhang to protect the space from the real summer sun and in your case I would do a solar shade to do the same ands till allow you to have the view the shades also protect from the heat and the UV rays that can fade all your fabrics and floors.

avoid cheap cabs. UV retardants can be expected in higher end product. Do you have a basic idea of sq footage and general design and budget. Might be wise to have a couple options for yourself other than high end white gloss . I’d be cautious w any downtown urban condo these days in terms of dollars allocated. Something else: spend as needed on base storage drawers and on walls edit to reduce the cabinetry . Open shelf: 1 or 2 shelves so the prob w fading etc at eye height and where angled sun hits is non issue . Those base drawers can be sufficient believe it or not .

I just installed the high gloss Ringhult cabinets from Ikea. It's too soon to speak of any yellowing; however, I did research this online and didn't find any complaints about yellowing. Fingerprints aren't showing. I lightly scratched a cabinet door during the installation (blue plastic still on). I had a mini panic moment, but it is not visible to the naked eye.

A lot of people don’t cook extensively in urban condo kitchens. W good hood venting and a couple open shelves the prob of grease/dust can be minimal. We are not talking sets of dishes inherited from generations stacked on those shelves If I had to Bet. I think open walls in condo is nice and focus instead on a couple bar stools w overhang and pendant lights when a friend or two stops in for light snacks etc . Just depends.

Gloss will need more cleaning more often. That's not going to be avoided. Either a service or a dedicated owner. If neither are in your future plans another finish would be worth considering along with the other components in the space.

I too installed high gloss Ringhult Cabinets. They have been so easy to take care of. When a fingerprint or dirt spot shows just wipe off. I love them.

IMO all cabinets get dirty so I like the fact mine tell me when they are . It is the same as people don’t want glass tables because they get dusty, they do not get dustier than wood but they just show you. BTW I should have mentioned I run a catering biz from my home so sometimes 6 people working in there not one scartch or ding and a wipe with a micro fiber cloth at the end of the day makes the cabinets look like new. The cabinets in this pic are my old kitchen same biz. those are now 19 yrs old and still look awesome also Ikea high gloss but red.

Presuming this is a new build condo I wouldn’t worry about uv rays- you have high efficiency windows that should have a coating that prevents uV rays from being a concern. The ikea gloss cabinets are super easy to keep clean. Had my last kitchen for eight years, installing them in my new house now.
