Thanks! i feel like I've jumped into a whole new world learning how to paste into the post...baby steps! :) I'm gutting practically the whole house I just can't get the energy to tear out all this tile and start new...nor will my budget allow! Any tips to update this bath with only paint and floor tile? The vanities will be new but nothing that nice, just painted/glazed style vanities in white with antiquey glaze...haven't bought light fixtures yet but faucets are brushed nickel.. Thanks! Tara

is the tile flooring same everywhere? does it stay? if yes-then in rooms you have it, I would go with not too stark, warm colors..smth like cream or tan or maybe driftwood..you know that very warm greige? and I would add cooler accents like blues and greens and whites etc in accessories you still can have this coastal vibe..sand and water.. you need to make sure all colors relate of course. in their temperature so to say. and clean starkness vs certain murky-ness..I hope I explain myself well, I'm not sure of it. or-another option-bold dark deep colors that are strong enough to be next to the tile.. i think quiet cooler pastels won't be great next to the tile..it's a type of tile that wins. needs either similar tone next to it-or something like that deep aubergine if the flooring is different in the other bath then it's a different story for that bath wood in vanities, from what i see, would work with almost everything, it's a very versatile stain I'd consider the flooring first of all, because it's the bossiest elements of them all.

For a more modern log home you would pick colors the same way you would in a regular home - bring all your pieces together and draw a color out of them...if you are really feeling the country then you may want to be in sage greens, pumpkin, fall reds and things like that. I do agree - no need to paint before cabinets go in - don't rush... find colors you are drawn to and paint poster boards and hang them up and look at them for a week or so... Good luck!

make sure your bulbs are a cooler temp. (3500K - 4000K) Otherwise you'll get the yellow hue on every color you try. I think your granite/tile and vanity are just too overwhelming to do any color except a neutral. I'd let the shower curtain take care of being the accent color. Perhaps try and do a picture over the toilet w/some greens, but keep the wall a light neutral. Dorian Gray is in the lavender column, you want something warmer. Try Pale Oak and White Dove for the trim or, these are warmer grays that lean a little taupe and a very creamy white if you want to go lighter on the walls. try doing something like this over the toilet using the darker brown shelving (to match the vanity. or even glass shelving) w/some artwork or accessories
