Comments (2)You're starting an organizing business?!!? I would love to talk to you about this. What a great idea to bring your client samples, Talley Sue. You could also take a big binder and print out pages from the web, slip them into page protectors, and showcase your favorite products that way. Do you use the FlyLady system? One of the first things I ever read on this forum, so many years ago, was a post by Blazedog (at least that's what I think her name was) when she repeated Flylady's mantra "You can't organize clutter." I read this before I even heard of Flylady. It was like a light went on, a dim light in a very cluttered corner of my mind. And it has taken me so long to excavate to that light, dejunk my stuff, organize what's worth keeping, and learn how to be displined. I still have a long way to go. But I'm far enough along that now I wonder if I can be an organizer too. Perhaps I can help other people sort out their lives before its too late, and still make a living out of it. Who knows? I can appreciate why religious people take a vow of poverty or simplicity. What I once thought was so quaint an idea now seems wise beyond words. I long for a life where my time is spent on people, not stuff. I have a way to go, but I am on the right track. I think my favorite things to get rid of are the emptied boxes and baskets that I have acquired over the years to pile stuff into rather than making decisions about the stuff. How much money did I spend trying to organize clutter? It is so freeing to give away those now useless storage containers. Please keep my posted, Talley, on your progress towards begining an organizing business. Being a former New Yorker, I can appreciate that you are in the premier environment for learning how to effectively deal with things and space. Here in Texas, we have lots of room. And the overabundance of stuff to prove it! I just checked my email files and discovered that I still have a few emails about the P-touch from 2005, so I have a very old email addy from you. Does it still work? I would love to talk to you about your business ideas. Either way, good for you. I am always amazed by your suggestions and the ideas you post. Your business is bound to be a success. Thank you! ~Cupofkindness...See MoreCheese Daisies for party_music
Comments (3)Thank you for posting the recipe, colleenoz! I imagined that you would sprinkle the poppy seed in the flower center, but the ball of dough rolled in the seed would certainly be more precise and hold the seed better. Would it work if you made short straw shapes and just dipped one end in poppy seeds? :)...See MoreCome clean--how much cheese do you really have?
Comments (47)We have more on hand than we have ever had pre-covid. Three cheddars waxed with Sept dates. Three/4 in small food saver packages we cold smoked last thanksgiving. A big pecorino wheel waxed. Motz, goat, 3 different fetas. (had six a month ago). Had the igourmet blue collection then a wheel of gorgonzola enjoyed, then froze some in 1/4 pints. That was 3.5 pounds. Wholesale delivery. Always had Costco basics. Then random 1/4 pound cheese monger treats of the rare good stuff every month or so.. Just not doing that type of shopping now. I even expected to be making my own by now but had trouble getting the milk I like. I can get it now locally but we are so stocked in cheese....maybe next month. The wholesaler has now paired up with a well know NYC cheese monger so next order I can get smaller cuts. I need a good blue. Or two. This was eye opening. Did not know it is technically a cheese. They use rennet. So good. like a greek yogurt/cream cheese hybrid. I had to purchase a full case of 12. Then found a recipe...HERE Looking forward to making this style yogurt....See Morechoosing inexpensive clothes storage
Comments (6)The Kallaxes are already in place in our bedroom on most of one wall. We had installed them to use for storage of boxes of family history (6 cubbies wide x 4 cubbies tall, so 24 cubbies total). - But now are able to move those boxes into our 2nd bedroom, freeing up the Kallax cubes in our main bedroom. I am getting rid of an old dresser that we used for years because the drawers are sticky and don't slide well and as I am older, they have become very difficult to deal with. We do have a double reach-in closet in the bedroom, but I find it sometimes difficult to deal with hanging clothes up and taking them back down (arthritis issues). Most of our clothes that are not hung up are things like jeans, other knock-around pants, knit tops/polo shirts, and undies, bras, socks, sleepshirts. These are what we wear daily, and I want them easily accessible. I am also trying to make room in the area/corner where the dresser was for a comfortable chair. My intention is to also use the Kallaxes for books/games/etc. So it will be a mix of those and inserts or fabric bins. Has anyone had experience with the drawer inserts for the Kallaxes?...See More- 6 years ago
