Another Busy Day
Comments (5)I got a lot done today; stripped wall paper border backing off my bathroom, scrubbed the walls, removed big mirror and cleaned my bathroom, did five loads of laundry, made potato salad along with cleaning two more bathrooms. Made dinner and cleaned up the dinner mess. I am now chillin and surfing while watching tv. Deb...See MoreWhat Did You Do Today???
Comments (8)Thank you, Mamatoad, for adding some life here. I've been wondering whether some folks around here are practising for the long sleep when we get put into that big box. Slept at my old (step-) uncle's place, who died three weeks ago, to forestall vandalism. Going back there right away. I spent a couple of months with him after his wife died in mid-winter two years ago, as he, in late 80s, with bad leg, back and hip (had 3 replacements) was keeping cattle and I didn't want to hear of him having expired in a snowbank, with no one knowing of his problem. Came home, did some shopping, checked mail, played computer games (online) and sent some messages. Talked to son on the phone. Yesterday prepared some tax returns for low-income housebound seniors, today made appointment to do another. Checking what needs to be done to my old car (major engine repair in prospect) to get it mobile - don't like driving van, for it eats too much gas. After midnight, a friend who often gets depressed called, just after a discussion with her son, whose wife and she don't get on very well. When she gets depressed, her voice changes and she's entirely different. And one can't be of much help to tell them to just hang on - that tomorrow or the next day she'll be back to normal again. Good wishes to all for a happy, healthy, prosperous retirement. Be helpful when you can - there are many lonely, hurting people in the world. Even a smile can brighten someone's day. joyful guy/Ed...See MoreSo how was YOUR first day of demo?
Comments (10)Our first day was Feb. 15th and although a lot changed visually on that day the pace has definitely not been the same every day! We lost about a week and a half to heavy rain with tarps protecting the very raw back side of the house. We even had an earthquake centered less than a mile away. But, no damage. Our contractor came by at 6:00am to see if our brick walls were still standing. So far, so good. We won't be done until the end of May. Hang in there....See MoreWhat's for Dinner ... Tuesday?
Comments (15)Rob: Sounds like you have a good relationship w/your son. I hope you enjoyed your pizza. Raven: Red Beans and rice. Thanks to the dinner thread, I had my first taste of it and now it's on my list of foods to fix. Jasdip: I hope he continues to do great. I really like the hot beef sandwiches. Never had them with your sides, but I bet I'd like that too. Oh, Sue, there you go again. Every time you mention hot ham and cheese, I get hungry for one. Jim: Your weather starting Thurs will be the same as us. I wish your wife was feeling much better. The meal you're making sounds very good. Georgysmom: There are days when pizza just hits the spot. Mine are always from the freezer. Pam: I'm glad you can help your sister. I must ck out hoisin sauce. I almost always have chicken breasts in the freezer. Chicken salad is a very good way to use up the leftovers. Old Fixer: Oh, what a combo!!! Hope your mouth is okay, with no problems. Party: Years ago I could make my entire meal just on fresh corn and tomatoes. Sometimes I'd add fried potatoes. Angelaid: You better believe it's the law about mashed potatoes with salisbury steak. I wonder how Stouffer's gets around that law when they add mac n cheese instead. Glenda: Leave off the onions and I'll have some of the same. Really like the sounds of the Mexican corn muffin. Phyllis: Your meal not only sounds good, it sounds refreshing. Shirley...See Morenancyjane_gardener
