I just moved into a new home I need living room decor ideas

Second point, look for a striking rug that has a similarly natural, organic feel. It could continue your neutrals theme or introduce colour, but I'd definitely go for some kind of organic pattern -- not a geomatric design. I've just come across this one and I love it. https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Hand-Knotted-Roth-Abstract-Pattern-Hemp-Rug-5-x-8/9912730/product.html?refccid=CPCHMYDRCEE2WRKCR4625KZO2Q&searchidx=337&keywords=&refinement=material%3ANatural%20Fiber...See MoreI need decorating help for my living room!!
Comments (36)I love the accent wall. Your couch is definitely too big for the space. Normally I would suggest that you change the swing of the couch but because it would be right up against your peninsula I'd leave it the way it is. You have the right idea to add a chair but again it just feels tight because the couch is too big. Your shelving feels a little busy. This can be easy fixed! By putting the shelves all the way against the wall (on the sides) it gives the illusion that there's not enough space for them. Also, you've over loaded every shelf, so it's a bit heavy on the eyes. One of the best tips I could give you is texture and layering. You never want everything on the shelf to be the same, whether the same type of object or the same height or the same color. You can add visual texture by picking objects that are different. Ex: a small green plant next to a large silver picture frame, next to a medium sized white box....See MoreI need help decorating my living room
Comments (16)I understand wanting to make what you have work, especially since you'll be adjusting financially for a time with your new house. I would not recommend purchasing furniture on credit. Instead, save for the pieces you want. Reserve debt increases for items that will protect or increase the value of your home if absolutely necessary. It's better to plan and save for those items as well. But, I digress. . . I think there are some things you can do to bridge the warm and cool tones in your room. Bringing some of the cooler tones onto the the sofa and bringing some warmer tones onto the wall are some things to consider. The mock-up below attempts to illustrate the idea I would recommend removing the console to the left of the window. It appears to crowding the entry. Maybe think about a couple of prints that have both warm and cool tones for above the long sofa wall. And perhaps a warm wooden shelf on the short wall. A distressed mirror above it along with a couple of well chosen photos or other items could make a nice vignette. Rather than the current side table, consider a solid, drum or pedestal. Suspending a pendent light in the right position above it would balance out the short sofa wall. I hope this has been somewhat helpful. Congratulations on your new house!...See MoreI just moved into apartment and need help with living room.
Comments (5)Please move your painting down so that the bottom edge is about 8 inches above the top edge of the sofa. Find a console for the TV that is quite a bit longer than the TV and rather low, with doors behind which you can hide the messy stuff. Google TV consoles and you'll find hundreds of styles in every price range. Put up a long curtain rod, long enough so the curtains clear the window when they're pulled back, below the narrow window and put up curtains that are fairly light in color so the room doesn't look smaller. I suggest a carpet that is fairly colorful, and it would be great to use your painting as a color inspiration. You need warm colors to offset the gray of the wall and couch. Definitely a few pillows in colors taken from the rug. Move that gray bench thingie, perhaps to your bedroom, and find a small but comfortable armchair for added seating. Forget about the horrible overhead lights and get at least one table lamp (two would be better) for warmer lighting that doesn't turn people a ghastly color. A few pillows in happy colors so your furry friend will have something to cuddle against....See MoreTheresa Janssen
