Help me pick a stain for my bedroom furniture
Comments (8)I think it depends upon what the mahogany looks like with the current semi-opaque finish removed. My stairs are mahogany and once we stripped them we decided that no stain was needed, just a protective finish. They are a medium tone slightly less orange than the Michael Taylor piece with no stain at all. If not, I would go no darker than light walnut or special walnut. The 1st dibs piece looks nice, but to me it looks like newer furniture with vintage hardware on it in that finish--to me it has lost something. I tend to be a purist of sorts though, and I think this piece, much like Heywood Wakefield, puts its best foot forward in the original finishes, even if refinished to duplicate the original....See MoreDoes This Look Whimsical or Just Plain Stupid?
Comments (69)peaches, there was no criticism in your comments, and you have a right to be puzzled. I'm sure I would be if this were someone else's post. Waiting for the shutters is an excellent idea, as is the suggestion of soliciting opinions here before buying anything. Come to think of it I did the last time, and that's how I ended up with white shades. I may very well end up with white again, especially since my summer bedding, which I'm putting on soon, is black and white....See MoreFolklore, Just Joey or Midas Touch.
Comments (5)Seil is right. They are all different types of blooms. My JJ doesn't do very well. I've had it for many yrs and it's never done very much. Almost died a couple yrs ago, and has never gotten over 2ft tall! I love the ruffled blooms tho. I think I should replace it with a better plant. FOLKLORE is quite lovely. As Moses says, it does get pretty tall. Nice orange blooms with a decent repeat. MIDAS TOUCH is a nice rose, which gets tall also. Mine it well over 5ft and nice and full, but the blooms don't last very long and repeat could be better. I think I'd be leaning towards FOLKLORE... Comments (25)Decide the feel: could choose a sweet-flower lilac...or understated soft blues....choose art first maybe. Lamp is $65.
