Thanks to graniteshop for jumping in here. Now that I have seen what an air vent is (they are not required in my area), I have a better understandiung of why it may have cracked. Another fabricator wrote the following: "The hole for the vent is drilled all the way through the material like a faucet hole and is most likely an 1-3/8" diameter just like the rest of the faucet holes. There could be a couple causes of the crack. It could have been cracked during the install and not noticed until this point. It's also possible that they crack was caused when the hole was drilled. If they did it on site with the wrong style core bit enough heat could have been built up to cause the stone to crack. Also, if the cabinets were not level or if the top was not properly shimmed the top could crack after install. If the top was cracked before install it will still probably be perfectly flat. If it was cracked after install then you may be able to look down the top and see either a high point or low point in the top at the location of the crack. " Seems like good info to me.

victoria, I love those terra cotta floors. If you want to do a bit more spanish style, then pick something like the talavera tiles or something in the blues or greens for the new backsplash. I'd do a plain white or black countertop if going that route. this is one of my faves. you could do a black or white (or a a cream) quartz countertop with black and white talavera tiles for your splash, and a copper farmhouse sink. since you're in mexico, these would be readily available tiled countertops are also very common w/mexican style kitchen. As are the brightly colored islands or cabinets. I really like this one too. the turquoise and aqua shades compliment the terra cotta color perfectly. (this countertop is actually cement! but it's been polished and sealed in a nice, light gray) you could even do a ceramic tile backsplash in a solid turquoise shade or one of the greens. w/the copper sink. this countertop is recycled glass in a green. (I actually have one in my bathroom)

Hi Saher Ali- The color marble and the tile go beautifully together! Here is a question though- Marble does stain and etch. Will this bathroom be used to put on beauty/toiletry products on a regular basis? Things do spill. You can use something else that will give you the marble look but that won't have the problems marble does, such as Corian. Here is another thought- I think a slab front cabinet will give you the clean modern look you want much better than the shaker front. Have a look around the internet and you will see. Will you be using the tile shown in the photo of the North Perth bathroom on your floor? If so, that is great. The other floor tile you showed looks more in the tan family and doesn't go as well with the grey/black tones of your marble.

Take an exact picture with dimensions, then visit your fabricator's shop. A hundred bucks says your waffles match his vacuum pods, used to secure stone while fabricating on a CNC machine, exactly. Looks like a Morbidelli to me.
