Two choices, no rock or a rock band around the base of the house. If you go with the rock band perimeter, keep it low. Resist temptation to use a lot of it. Looking at your home, my choice would be no rock. I like the simplicity. Plus, it will make the build process easier and cheaper. Spend the money on better windows and insulation.

Great thoughts shead!!!! Lordy, you are getting a beautiful, new home, and it will be something to be very proud of AND there is no such thing as a "perfect" house. What makes it great is the memories and joy you have while living there. Focus on that. Congrats on getting this far, and hopefully, you will have many years of joy there. My husband really has this down to an art. When we were looking for a "downsized" home and came into this home, I was looking to see if certain key furniture pieces I had would fit. Know what his first thought was?? Can we fit all the kids into here to sleep for our Christmas celebration!! I said, perfect! Yes, this will work. Then we figured out the "sleeping" and done deal. We have really enjoyed it. We didn't plan on adding two grandchildren though!! haha! Always something! Love those babies!

Skip the stone veneer unless it is used in a manor that suggests it could have been used as a structural element (i.e. pillars - but if they where real stone structural pillars, the stone would go from bottom completely to the top). Stone siding on houses that circle the bottom, go partway up walls, etc. almost never look architecturally correct. The worst is partial stone siding on the front facade of a house that doesn't wrap around to the side walls, or fully to the rear of the home. I'd skip the stone entirely from your house and stick with the horizontal siding shown in the render. Otherwise, pillars only (both front and rear) if you have to comply with an HOA, but understand you will thicken the dimensions of the pillars (most masons doing veneer need 2' x 2'). Many thanks to everyone for their suggestions and advice! It seems that there are two seperate, but related, issues here: where the sign looks best aesthetically and whether the numbers are visible from the street. And a few things that can’t/won’t be changed: the house is built, albeit with a slightly off center front door, the sign is purchased, the lights are installed. In regard to the aesthetics, while I appreciate all the suggestions, I still think it looks best near the front door. Placing it under the light was a good idea, but it just didn't look right to me, so i am back to my original placement somewhere to the left of the door. In regard to the numbers being visible from the street, if they aren't, we will definitely have the house number engraved on the stone by the driveway (will probably do this anyway). And the car headlights shine on this from the street, so it is very visible at night. The numbers over the mudroom entrance were put there so we could get our CO. I had originally planned to take them doen when we hung the other sign, but with all the comnents about visiblity from the road, i thought we could just leave them. But after the comment that it was odd to have two sets of numbers, we will go back to the original plan and remove them.
