Beth's Grandpa's Buttermilk pancakes
Comments (19)Annie -- I have to laugh, but you and my husband would get along swimmingly. In his opinion, the only way to eat pancakes is with eggs sandwiched in between. Grosses me out! LOL Beth -- I am definitely going to try these. Pancakes are my favorite restaurant breakfast, but I'm usually disappointed because I pick up that fake vanilla taste. Blech. I haven't had much success in making them at home, but I'm definitely trying these out. Also, just the fact that they were your Grandpa's makes me love them already. Food is so much more than just a bunch of ingredients thrown together. Being able to add those stories and memories into the mix makes everything taste even better....See MoreTHE Best Buttermilk Pancake Recipe
Comments (27)I made Grandpa Corliss's pancakes this morning. I want to thank everyone for sharing their experiences, it helped me reach success with these wonderful tasting pancakes. I used my Happy Call pan that I use with other pancakes but Grandpa's stuck to the top pan when I flipped. I gradually added more flour but I think it might have been that the dark brown sugar I used caramelized and made it stick. I cooked it a little longer and that worked a bit better. I did have numerous volunteer pancakes but still ended up with a generous number of pancakes to go with my Grade B maple and European Style Sweet Butter. While they were very good, I had better practice again tomorrow ;>) Thanks Beth. Here is a link that might be useful: Flip Pan...See MoreButtermilk Oatmeal Pancakes
Comments (11)Those pancakes look delicious, Ann. I just had a yogurt & a slice of cheese for breakfast. Pancakes would have been better! I tend to make oatmeal pancakes mostly in the fall for some reason? We like them with a couple grates of fresh nutmeg & topped with sauteed apple slices and a side of ham. Annie, when our kids were at home they loved leftover oatmeal pancakes rolled with peanut butter/jelly. Now, my grandkids have taken over the leftovers. My recipe is basically the same as Ann's. For those of you who enjoy working with yeast...oatmeal pancakes are also delicious raised with yeast. I take a 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of yeast, 1/2 cup of warm buttermilk, & 2-3 tablespoons of flour...mix well & let sit for 30 minutes. Proceed as normal for pancakes, including BP, but remember you've already used 1/2 cup of the liquid & a bit of flour so reduce those amounts. After mixing, I let the batter sit for another 15 minutes. The pancakes are light as air. /tricia...See MoreRECIPE: Healthier baking mix & lemon pancakes
